I changed this setting too, but I know affected creators who have also changed the setting and are still getting traffic from UA-cam advertising. UA-cam is a broken mess at the moment.

@@WorksIRL its purpose is to stop third parties from running your videos as UA-cam ads without your consent. Sometimes, companies will try and run your video review of their product as a sponsored pre-roll ad before other videos if they feel your review puts their product in a positive light. This setting means that a company cannot run your videos as ads without your consent since you’d have to link their Adsense account to yours for it to work.

It's not a fix. You still have this bug once you deactivate this. People who were affected by this bug months ago are still in the same situation after doing all of the recommended "fixes". Majority of the "fix" videos you see here are people giving the same information and copying from each other just cause this search is trending now. There is no fix that goes around a bug in a platform you don't own or have access to it's code...

@@WorksIRL if you did something wrong as a creator to cause this - you can maybe fix it before it’s too late. If it’s unjustified , caused by a bug- only a UA-cam developer working for UA-cam can fix this.
@@MeyTribe yeah, that’s really a crappy situation YT has dealt creators by not addressing this bug. I had to remove a couple shorts that had done really well due to a YT bug using THEIR remix feature on THEIR app creating shorts from my own long-form video. My “live support” exchanges were like something from an old Abbott & Costello comedy movie with the support “people” (I’m sure they’re mostly AI bots) explaining to me the rights of the original clip owner can claim copyright infringement on their work while I kept saying the original owner/creator is me on my own channel using UA-cam’s tool provided to create the shorts they’re claiming didn’t belong to me. After multiple sessions almost identical to each previous attempt with all the AI-generated platitudes about “understanding how frustrating this must be” and “we will work hard to resolve your problem”…I gave up and deleted the “offending” shorts and now I question using their “Remix” feature on my own videos to create Shorts they promote and encourage Creators to use 🤨. I can appreciate the frustration creators are having with this bug given it’s costing them real money…so wrong! 🤬
I'm sorry you're experiencing that problem. I'd hoped they'd (UA-cam) had fixed it awhile ago. I've seen some other videos since posting mine with other speculation about the root of the problem. Thanks for the video. My revenue dropped 50% two weeks ago due to invalid traffic. For the past three years its always stayed around the same amount. Do you know how to find which videos are causing invalid traffic?
@@JMGENTERPRISES I’m sorry to hear of your revenue drop ☹️. Based on other comments here I’m not certain “my fix” fixes it now. I don’t recall if I was able to identify the “offending” videos using the analytics tool graphs and using the proper options to show which videos are problems. I’ve since seen other videos that said this may be due to a UA-cam bug or miscalculated metrics regarding videos falsely playing more than actually watched but UA-cam still collecting Adsense revenue from paying advertisers and “invalid traffic” is UA-cam’s concession to repay those advertisers with commensurate plays in arrears…basically saying UA-cam and hence creators got more money upfront for “false views” and now they’ve calculated how many “free views” they owe advertisers to make up for the wrongly charged advertising…ergo, “invalid traffic” views until they’ve made back what they’ve already charged. Good luck and know you’re not alone but hopefully things will return to “normal” for you soon. Good luck!👍
@@WorksIRL Thanks for your response. The more I have been researching this topic lately, the more I believe what you said to being true about regaining the earnings from previous invalid traffic. I found a verified Google/UA-cam rep that answered a few questions regarding invalid traffic. And he quoted - "When our systems detect invalid traffic on ads that have already been served on your channel, any earnings from invalid traffic may be withheld, changed, or offset." This makes the most sense to me out of all the theories out there. The regain the past money that was paid on these invalid views from your future earnings until it's paid back. This would probably explain why there seems to be no "quick fix" to solving this issue and why everyone seems to experience this drop in revenue for different periods of time. I went through lots of my videos and found a few that had lots of views from UA-cam Advertising which I hear can be bots. I also did notice lots of weird bot comments leading up to the date my revenue plummeted. I reported them all to UA-cam as spam. Probably close to 50 comments. Now I am kind of kicking myself for doing so. Odd that only two days after I report all these comments, my channel gets hit. I will report back if and when this resolves itself! Thanks again!

I don't know if this could help you, but when the invalid traffic message appeared, I noticed that a new feature had appeared on UA-cam to promote my videos. Desperate, thinking I wasn't doing a good job, I tried to promote a video to increase my traffic, and I was surprised to find that someone from a Nordic country had hacked and created a Google ADS account with my GMAIL account around the same time I received the INVALID TRAFFIC message. Since then, I haven't been able to recover my channel. It has few views, few subscribers, and since I know that people at UA-cam are not there to help creators, I'm still hoping that following the advice of various channels like this one, changing passwords every month, and using a different and dedicated computer to upload videos will fix the problem.
I'm very sorry to learn that happened to you and I think you should report it to UA-cam/Google! That's flat-out criminal behavior and UA-cam/Google really needs to put their full computational and software expertise focus on figuring out a solution to how their platform is behind misused and abusing creators like youself. Again, I'm sorry and hope you might get some assistance to resolve your situation. I wish you the best of luck!
I'm not sure why but your comments was being "held for review"...I've approved it to be seen now...I wish I could answer your question but I don't know. I've seen comments on my video here saying what I describe in my video isn't the issue and many other videos on the topic speculate other theories. Unfortunately, I think it may have something to do with UA-cam trying "to make right" some wrongly-counted advertisements for which they charged clients and UA-cam is simply "not counting" a certain number of advertisements across all monetized channels to correct their previously-over-counted-over-charged accounting. Again, that's only a theory as well but in the end I think this "invalid traffic" is out of creators' hands for trying to remedy themselves and we're simply at the mercy of UA-cam eventually getting things back on-track. UA-cam advertising isn't sketchy... it's a source from UA-cam itself. They have a bug that flags channels for no reason. there is nothing we can do to fix it, only they can. @@WorksIRL

Loads of theories flying around and for each one, someone else says it is not that! The thing to not do is delete videos etc as the view data will be lost. This will affect the revenue once the bug is fixed. (4000 watch hours and the like)
That’s prudent advice! Deleting videos and entire channel is an understandable emotional response and trying to leave things as they are does seem a good idea. Rather like leaving the “crime scene evidence” unmolested so hopefully UA-cam investigation has data to work through allowing restoration of any lost counts/revenue if so warranted in the future. 👍
I hope so for anyone that’s been impacted by this…if nothing else, this setting still seems connected to something that seems a bit “strange” or at least is hard for me to comprehend how this is being used. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

It's not a fix.
You still have this bug once you deactivate this.
People who were affected by this bug months ago are still in the same situation after doing all of the recommended "fixes".
