This seems more like your goal is the orchestration of the family band rather than helping them choose instruments that fit them.
Shouldn't you let your child choose the instrument they like when they want instead of forcing it on them.
This is sooo helpful
I play violin! I have been playing for 2 years. This is my 3rd year playing!
Once I heard your dad talk about how your mom would sometimes bake cookies for the neighborhood kids so they would come listen to you practice. Did the performance aspect appeal to you or challenge your comfort zone?
+Emma Hansen I always loved performing!
Thank you for the family history
Playing the violin is fun. I now want like seven different careers that are not desk jobs. Something like violinist, author, artist, agent, et cetera. I want to do everything! Kind of.
...
Everything that is fun and will not kill me!
How long do your kids practice each day?
+Emily Schwartz Laura does 60-90 min, Hannah does 3-4 hours, Sarah does 60-90 min and Matthew does 60-90 min per day
Jenny, my kids are in a great routine of practicing...but it is more like 15 min. each day. How do you encourage this much practicing? Do you use a timer? My kids seem to be satisfied after a few times of practicing each song, even though I know they could work on them much longer. Thanks for these videos. I'm loving them! ;)
It might be helpful to have their teachers assign more tasks or be more specific in the assignments...Teachers are usually happy to assign more and raise the expectations.
Glad you are enjoying the videos!
+America's Violinist - Jenny Oaks Baker Thank you for those great suggestions! I will start this conversation with their teacher. :)
