  • My Brugmansia's are some of my most prized plants. I have had some of these for years. Super easy to grow. I finally got them big enough to be trees this year. I can't wait to see what they will look like in the garden. These put out some of the most stunning flowers that smell out of this world amazing. Super easy to propagate. When you get a soft steam cutting pull off all but a couple of leaves. Put the steam in a cup of water wait for the roots to be about an inch long then plant and keep light and warm till late spring early summer is here then bring them outside. These come in all sorts of colors and shapes. Be sure when you are looking to buy one that it is truly the right one. I have been sold the wrong product many times. It is Brugmania that you are looking for. It gets confused with datura many times. There is a facebook group that is dedicated to Brugmania. Should check it out. You can also buy them from them.

    Hey Devin - love your vid's! Since we are all social distancing, I am working on my house plant skills. I am in Colo & in zone 5a & just ordered Purple Double Datura Seeds from Amazon. If I sprout seeds and bring the plant inside for winter the 1st year, how do I take care of the plant during winter months? Thanks for your help - greg

    • @devinparker1
      @devinparker1  4 роки тому +2

      Greg Jones so there’s two ways to do it. First way is to just collect seeds from the big seed pods. You will end up with 1000s of seeds. The purple datura seeds vers moon flowers. Same thing. The moon seeds seem to do REALLY well with the seed pods. The purple ones I’ve had issues in the past of the seed pods rot. So I make sure I get as many seeds as possible from them. I’ve done it where you can just plant the seeds in a flower pot then let them do there thing. In the fall bring it in and care for it like you would a tropical plant like a Hibiscus. Grows pretty good. The double purple seem to give me the most trouble. I hope this helps. For the first couple years I did keep a couple in my greenhouse for that just Incase lol I think all of us gardeners do that. Happy gardening stay safe.

    Hi there
    Great video, have you had this in full sun? I noticed mine that’s only two years old had a lot of blooms when I moved it to full sun and planted in ground.

    • @devinparker1
      @devinparker1  4 роки тому +1

      Ady Gates oh definitely. I live in zone 7 and in August it tends to get a little burnt so I put it under some trees for high noon heat and it gets morning and evening sun and it blooms great. I also fertilize it every week either with tomato plant fertilizer or rose fertilizer. You just want high phosphate. You easily can tell in a week when it’s been fed or not.

    • @Ad.g209

      Devin Parker interesting! I havent fertilized mine in some time but its doing well, maybe the type of soil in my area very clay dense. I propagated mine last week into water and i see roots already!

    Is it safe having the plant inside? Will it not cause hallucinations? Or do u have to deeply inhale for that to happen, and should u warn guests

    • @devinparker1

      I never had a problem with that. I never could figure out how they did that to people. I think the flower has to be dried crushed into power. It’s not that Sensitive.(at least to me or anyone around me) and trust me if it was in flower i was always smelling it. Smells so good. I never could get mine to flower in my house only in greenhouse so I wouldn’t worry since it’s not flowering. Hope that helps

    • @devinparker1
      @devinparker1  3 роки тому

      I haven’t had any luck with seeds. You have to be Very careful where you order your seeds. Don’t order them from Amazon. There’s a Fb group that just has Bromancia collections and they all share cuttings. Cuttings are so easy to grow from.

      I've just started some seeds off (I'm in UK) I soaked the seeds for 24 hrs in a glass of water then pressed them into a compost but don't cover (with soil) I had a plastic bottle acting as a propagator and keep moist. Four out of the 10 seeds so far have sprouted after about two weeks of temperature being above 18 degrees

    • @devinparker1
      @devinparker1  3 роки тому +2

      Hey it’s completely normal that it came like that. They bounce back very easy. Trick is lots of light as much as you possibly can and keep warm above 70 degrees. You will need to put it outside in the summer to get it to flower. I am posting another video tomorrow on how to put them to bed for the winter. The other trick is don’t let it dry out. If you have ever grown a tropical hibiscus it’s the same growing conditions. Hope this helped.
