I just bought an 8000 Salina for $70!! Inc. Shipping! Can't wait to drag up some grouper, Red snapper and big Ole AJ's with it. Glad you're an Okuma guy. I've been using them for years and have nothing but positive experiences. For the money, I'll argue them against any other brand.
Any way you can do a short or a video your process of cleaning up your gear after a trip. How you rinse your reels and rods, etc. I think it would be helpful to actually see someone taking the steps and the time to maintain their equipment. Awesome channel
I'm based in Hawaii. I've a shore fishing buddy who recently shocked me! He works in the restaurant business. He can purchase any types of reels he wants. Sometimes he's on the pier next to me at Chocolate Beach pier fishing with multiple rigs for large Jacks & Bonefish, like me. When i messaged him what reels he uses i was floored! Only Avengers! He thought for the price it'll be cheap to replace one if it failed. But after many years all his Avengers are still avenging!
What is overhead real? Okuma makes some very reliable REELS. I personally have over a dozen, they hold up well to salt water and there rods are a great value.
🌴hey bro, as far as I’m concerned Okuma is first class , I’ve got the SLV 9-10 wt fly reel and I absolutely luv it , and it was priced right , the quality, fit and finish was great , if that spinning real feels heavy it’s because it’s not made cheaply, just keep it away from Mr fuzzy guy! 🤣
I feel like I want to start getting into the Daiwa feeling reels and been looking hard at certain ones. I feel like if you really wanna test that 33lbs of drag you should just go out the skyway and catch a fish and when the dolphins snatch it you'll get your true test lol. My 6000 with the drag locked down and a dolphin with my grouper in its mouth got all 30 some pounds of drag out of my reel...twice
Semi sealed reel not completely sealed like Van Staal, Zeebass or Visser there is a difference. Looks like a good reel! I have to check them out. Looks like they tried to copy the Penn slammer 3.
Ordered a cedros 4000hd today, can’t stand the gold with the blue, should of been blue and black or gun metal grey just my opinion hehe, had to replace my bay reel, heard great reviews on both
Have they fix the issue with the back play on the reel? Cedros and Azores had that little issue, that anti reverse wasn’t assembled with enough accuracy
Most experienced anglers know how to play a fish correctly. I fought a small GT on a 4K Okuma Spinner w/15lb mono before. Having a good rod helps. But yeah Capt Joshua is an animal who knows his game. This looks like a good well built & designed reel. Kudos to Okuma on this release!
I can land decent Trevallys on 12lb easy, any day. It takes a bit of skill to land fish on lighter line, but then again... Anyone can tow a big fish out on heavy gear.

Great reels, I have been using them for years.
Where?
You just leave Duke be free-ballin’..😝
He does his thing. Thanks for watching.
I have planned on buying this from reading the spec. It’s going to sit next to my cdx-80

Great idea
Why did the 50lbs leader break?
That is a ton of pressure
Ive always used okuma avengers for surf casting and always loved them, started getting annoyed when the local BP stopped carrying okumas.
That is a shame they stopped carrying them. You have to be willing to sell you merchandise dirt cheap to BP to work a deal.

@Scuba Chris thats why ive always used them. Pops had them with us growing up and they stuck with me.
@@Nick-82 Can't beat family tradition:)
And ladies and gentlemen that is why you use overhead real for big game. The size of the drag washer will literally melt the reel.

Is there no sound to the drag?
Cool video! 😎
😎😎
What’s the difference between this one and a Salina II SA-4000? Seems like the II might be older ??
Salima vs saltist, what do you prefeer?
Salina
Dang that things purdy. If Okuma’s salt reels are anything like their freshwater versions, I’m sure it’s the cats ass.
Its the real deal

I know, have to keep away from Chris. He is slowly turning into big foot. 😂😂😂😂

I don't fish for dolphins Seth he he
@Joshua Taylor you don't fish for them they fish for you lol
Daiwa is junk shimano is best but value wise okuma is easily second
@Nick-is5vi really big on on local small business products and been pretty happy with Florida fishing products reels. Also love bull rods

That combo.... yikes...my eyes....a green rod with pink line and blue and gold reel....... uh that's a eyesore

Have not experienced that with the Cedros or Salina and I've caught thousands of fish on the Cedros
Sir I want this reel pls help me why
I get cuticle scissors for a dollar at Walgreens
Now Tesoro take over the lead from Salina lol....m
Not quite but the Tesoro is a great reel.
I like Duke
He is our little pain the arse
Yesir 14lb braid on a 4k reel is insane you cannot possibly be going for anything decent sized😂
You'd be very suprised what we catch with 14lb braid.
@@Saltyscales 25 inch reds are a fight on 20lb braid I can’t even stop high 40s reds on 20# braid

Briggsys daughter just got a 10kg plus Queenfish on 10lb, we catch edibles up to 30kg plus on 20lb, good knots and quality braid...
I bought okuma tesoro 8000 4.9 gear version for extra durability
Tesoro is a great reel
With 14 lb braid you'll only be able to go 7lbs of drag max.
Jesus it’s beautiful
That it is.
@@Saltyscales I’m definitely gonna get me one bubba
Salina 6000 weighs the same as 4000😂
6000 is ounces heavier, especially when you spool it up. 🤦♂️
