cool stuff! I remember this well as I grew up in Conneaut. It lasted a while if I'm not mistaken and the traffic woes around Parrish Road were horrible. I remember seeing the Conrail trains coming around the bend just west of the crossing. Cool, cool video!!
Wow this is such awesome footage. It's amazing the detour into Conneaut is still there but you'd never know it because its all grown in with trees and such.
This is fantastic stuff! Amazing how much has changed in 34 years, several buildings in Conneaut are now gone, the old crew building on the north side, and the 2 story office on the south side. Of course the trains are different, look at those primitive auto racks. Going across that trestle would take some getting used to... Google satellite looks like the rail is still there on the Conneaut connection, joins NKP just west of Parrish Rd., satellite shows a welded rail train sitting on the CSX end of the connection. Parrish Rd. was a grade crossing until a few years ago, you could see a rusty old signal at the start of the connection, just west of the crossing. I never knew what it was for. NS DS uses "Parrish" as a place name. Do you know how long Conrail detoured over N&W? Looks like it wouldn't handle many trains per day, I wonder if CR routed most of their trains over the Pennsy, maybe rejoining the Water Level in Ashtabula over Carson Hill, or maybe via Macedonia. Looking at your video index, looks like I'm going to lose a lot of productive time in the next couple weeks!
As a kid I used to see Conrail. Since the Split I haven't seen and heard the sights and sounds you hear in this video. Its good to remember what Conrail was like. Very relaxing to hear the sound of the rain and horn and wipers going back and forth on the cab windows of that EMD. Thanks caddyfam for this. It would be hard to stay awake with this being my work environment and crazy hours. Trainman sure did work hard.
I grew up on Orange Street and would cross the tracks just west of the Chestnut St crossing on my way to school. Cool video.

I wonder the last time that trestle has seen a train over it.
