- Dying for Emperor is a sacred duty for the sons of Krieg, their sinister reputations can inspire a bad image from the point of view of the others regiments of the Imperial guard but face to the darkness of the 41st millennium, their legendary courage are welcome to bring Emperor's light in the galaxy.

In the afterlife a Krieger doesn’t enter the golden palace instead choosing to continue guarding the gate, despite no orders, despite the God Emperor saying himself they are worthy, the Krieger says: our deaths were for atonement, now we must earn our worth by standing guard eternally.

I remember the day my Primarch, Roboute Guilliman, asked me a question about the Kriegsman. It was a mundane question, one he could have even guessed the answer to. The question itself birthed a litany of other questions and a single teared statement. "Why do they wear the masks?" I turned my head to meet his eyes and I wondered at the question, he meant it literally, he didn't know what they were, rare that my Primarch would be ignorant of anything, especially history. "They are the Death Korps of Krieg, they always wear them, their homeworld has a toxic atmosphere." My Primarch nodded, I could still see in his expression that another curiosity lingered, and then he gave words to the emotion. "They never remove them? Why? This atmosphere isn't toxic." Instead of answering I shook my head at the ground, it was a tragic tale, gifting their history any thoughts would bring most to their knees, even Space Marines. "Kriegsman believe that their war, their duty, is everlasting. They think that they need to be ready to fulfill the Emperor's will at any moment. They're not so equipped for war as they are equipped for their own death, to slow their impending doom so they might give the Emperor more use, no matter how miniscule it is, they will give it gladly. It's how their entire planet is." His eyes tracked mine and maybe he saw my internal agony, I had weathered a thousand battles, but I had never relayed the history of Krieg, the history of their heresy. "Their entire planet, is like this? Grim, inhuman, emotionless... soulless? Why?" I wanted to refuse to answer his questions, but I couldn't. "The sons of Krieg are not as you say, not soulless, they live their lives for the Emperor. I once visited Krieg, the planet was a hellscape. A hellscape devoid of the Emperor's grace and beauty, it was a place where the Emperor's Peace would be refused by its populace, they would believe that their own lives were worth less than the mercy of death. Most of these soldiers are children, sons fighting so the war their father's waged might be forgiven." The words did not strike true with the Primarch, there were still questions unanswered, a history he did not understand. So I told him of the beginning, the treachery of Krieg's highlords. The resistance that sprouted from Colonel Jurten, his cry for help that went unheard into the darkness, and then his headlong charge into the jaws of death, his faith in the Emperor alone guiding him. I told him of the war, the brutal unyielding war that never ended. The generational trenches that spread across the entirety of Krieg, the dried ocens that turned into fields of lasgun fire and artillery barrages. The genetically enhanced beasts that carried faithful soldiers into the fray of the heaviest combat, equipped to die, never to survive. "Five hundred years, Krieg fought for five hundred years in unending war. Jurten's own forces were all dead before the end of the first decade but Krieg's sons and daughters bred a new army. An army that marched over the luscious fields that once existed and left war in their wake. They finally won the war after trillions had been killed, returned to the fold, and greeted the Imperium with heavy hearts." My heart was caught in my words, it was agonizing to relay it, to say the truth. "They believe that they are the arch traitors, the betrayers, the worst of heretics, that theirs is a lineage of the unfaithful, their blood is the blood of heathens. The people of Krieg believe it is their duty to atone, for eternity, for their crimes. They produce nothing, they build nothing, but they have their sons. The sons they throw away, because traitors deserve to die. Ever since they returned to the Imperium they have given everything away freely. To them every Krieger, every child soldier they send into the boiling heat of battle, deserves only death. When they die, they only see a number lost, equipment to scavenge, a heretic dead. They will continue to atone for crimes that weren't even their own, and they will do it without question, forever. They can never be forgiven." I felt the tears roll down my cheeks, the faith of the lowliest Kriegsman could test that of even the hardest Astartes, their souls beget only agony. "That's not true." My Primarch spoke, overcome with grief I had somehow forgotten his presence, turning to him in his pause I could see the only tear to ever be produced by Roboute Guilliman fall from his glistening eyes. "I know my Father's heart well, they were forgiven long ago. They achieved atonement, five hundred years worth."

It's better this way, though. Makes it that bit more unique from all the other videos that blast trumpets and bugles at max volume.

They are actually well trained personel who vowed to atone for the sins of their people. Under those gas masks lie different kinds of people, with possible hobbies on their free time (if they manage to have some, but those hobbies will most likely be how to make their equipment more lethal or trying to stick more grenades on their loadout) and more than likely none of them will ever hit the 30s or 40s.
It's the same feeling you get watching photographs from war reporters back in WW1 and WW2, it just hits you, how they must be feeling, as cold as you may be, you get scars from going through what Kriegers go through.
And for being able to just keep pushing forwards to honor their vows and principles, is what scares people the most. Sheer unbreakable will even in the darkest of times.

I still remember my first march off world, I was only a private. As soon as I got off the Valkyrie that brought me and my squad to the ground I saw wonders of an agricultural world. Oh how I miss the fields and the children. We could not save that world the local inquisitor thought we were taking to long and decided to rid the planet of the spores via exterminatus. There were some damn good men down there and he decided to end them prematurely
Good interpretation! Maybe out of the battlefied and the Imperial duty, Death Korp's soldiers have a great hidding heart!

As long as they are on Krieg or in battle they perform their duty and pay off their blood debt, yet in those quiet moments... the memories are coming back ... unwelcomed... dreams of a different life, that could be. But when the Imperium calls, there is no doubt, no room for dreams or memories just duty. Also you do not hear of a lot of Kriegsmen doing garrison duties. Always in the thick of the fighting, no time to grow "soft"

@@inquisitorthornside3p494 Considering the Inquisition's opinions of the Lamenters actions after somehow managing to actually destroy a fucking space hulk that was driving literally everyone who got near it, even space marines, to violent insanity or even suicide...
The Inquisition has absolutely zero patience. And the poor Lamenters... They managed to save literally billions of lives of not only the survivors of the planet side hysteria on the world the space hulk was threatening with its psychic attack, but also several more billions of lives on the other planets who would no doubt be threatened and everyone else in the fleet who couldnt get close enough to attack it without catastrophic crew loses... Yet the Inquisition chastised them for not doing it quicker. By the Emperor, those poor bastards just cant win....
When the Emperor awakens from his mummified slumber, may he look upon the masses of selfless, masked warriors who have fought and given all, taking no names or families, their one desire being their Emperor’s forgiveness from a transgression committed not by their present selves, but by the greed of distant ancestors…and may he smile.

When some 16 year old with no armor, only their trench coats, lasguns, shovels, and gas masks are more loyal to Him than His own demi-god sons.
These men and boys deserve more than what Lorgar, Angron, Mortarion, Pertarabo, Fulgrim, Alpharius, Konrad, or Horus ever did.
I mean, tbf, these men + women never had to deal with his fathering, either.
The Helghan theme fits very well into the Krieg Death Korps.

The feels they are too strong.
Kriegers alone have the heart of an astartes. They fight to the last man, they know no fear. For when their time comes it will be the emperor himself who welcomes them into the life after theirs they believe themselves to all be heretics and traitors, but in reality they are nothing but soldiers that all deserve respect from the imperium, astartes, and the emperor himself. Long live the imperium… Long live Krieg.
There is a quote that I come up with while watching this.
"I will live to carry on our ancestor's duty, I will fight for Humanity until I die, I will die with honor to receive Emperor's forgiveness, even though I die I will still serve The Emperor for eternity."

for me being an angel of the emperor you see too many things but I will never erase from my mind when I saw a krieg soldier playing with a girl and a boy after a hard campaign against the forces of chaos, it made me remember a long time ago when I remembered my father played with me and then he was recruited into the imperial guard and never returned, so we must all fight for those who cannot so that in the future those people we protected can do the same, for the empire and the emperor

I've always found it interesting how uniform they all are compared to all the other factions. They don't want to stand out and only care about progressing as an army. Literally executing anyone who stands out or decides to go against the group on the spot. Like everyone knows the story about the Kriegsman killing a commissar for cowardice. The Kreig don't fuck around if they think you are in the way of the mission

I remember the day that these men were sent in to replace my battalion. I will always remember their cold emotionless mask covering their face. Rarely did they speak normally, it felt as if I was talking to a robot.
Then the artillery began, and shortly after, the whistles.

Not only does Krieg hold the line it push back the night.
Is it wrong I want to see a series or film about the Death Korps where they get shipped and stuck on an idealic world. Where it gets attacked by a small Dark Eldar raiding party.
Thematically about the Korps reconnecting with their humanity. Where they fight for Emperor and Redemption but also for Humanity.
Or am I insane?
If Death Korps meets Dark Eldar, the roles will be reversed, Dark Eldars feel the fear!
It's a good idea but if it happened, I think Death Korps will counter attacks with more violence against Dark Eldars.
For me, it is their way of showing their humanity, by an extreme violence against these cowardly enemies of the Imperium and to avenge the innocent civilians victims of the cruelty of the Dark Eldar.

My channel is not specialized on WH40K normally, I make this video because Death Korps is one of my favorite Imperial Regiment.
I hadn't noticed that but maybe unconsciously, this Imperial regiment attracted most peuple by his background.

Transmechanic BinHex014 once related to me an apocripha that the Dark Angels once fought alongside the Krieg at a world designated 23- 2416. A member of our order was tasked with maintaining their weaponry. As the Kriegers prepared to go "over the top", their phrase for crossing into a no mans land, one among them felt the Omnissiah and was compelled to speak. The gas mask muffled his words but his intent was true. He spoke of a world that turned from the light, that chose to persue its own petty goals, and of the loyal band of men that fought to keep it in the fold. How their duty was everlasting. How they must now bring to justice the traitors at the other end of no-mans-land. This sentiment is common knowledge to all of us who have fought along the Krieg. Strangely, a detachment armored in Terminator plate approached this motivated Krieger. Colorations were variant but within tolerances to Dark Angels, and the Transmechanic listened as the rite of recording is the rite of understanding. Among them stood skull plated a Chaplain, who approached and placed a hand upon his shoulder. Transmechanic BinHex014 notes an "aura of sorrow and understanding" as the chaplain spoke. "We must all do our duty."
Transmechanic BinHex 014 later recalls that the Dark Angels left with a member of their unit in tow with black armor. He additionally notes that none of the Kriegers survived longer than an hour, but were able to create a distraction enough for the Dark Angels to accomplish their mission.
We of the Cog Mechanicum pray for those who are living munitions. May their expenditure be prudent. May they join the Omnissiah in the server hereafter.

isn't it kinda weird that 40000 years in the future human will fight wars like they used to in 1910 europe? Even now in 2022 we don't fight like that. Anyway these guys looks pretty cool.

i wonder if they would do better than the un in the human machine war (the animatrix) since there seems to be alot of trench warfare

I think, they will beat the machines ealsily, they are more obdurate than humans of Matrix and they can be as cold as the machines themselves.
