In general, there's a sizable amount of individuals on UA-cam who either create or support content in relation to Thomas the Tank Engine/Thomas & Friends. Some of it is based on appreciation and familiarity with the franchise from a young age into adulthood. On the other hand, sometimes it's people who are interested in locomotives and how they work. Overall, it's kind of like any other community that has a fascination with a certain type of preexisting material. With the other part of your question, some people create their own personal channels as if they are fanmade characters that upload content related to the community. I personally don't consider myself to be a part of or a fan of the community, primarily just someone who observes it and interacts on it based off of requests that I get. Plus, researching UA-cam channels is fun for me since I'm able to learn about different creators. I usually don't deter any sort of request, so it's not necessarily out of the question for me to cover any channel that suggests it.
