Dude's lucky to be alive. Once that tree contacts a high voltage conductor just leave it, it's already screwed. No sense in trying to knock it off of there and risk having that current go through you.
@@mattaddison1910 up to a certain voltage, yes. But with high voltage wood MAY eventually conduct current, especially if it has dirt, contaminants, fluid, etc. on it. Still not a risk I'd wanna take. If you listen closely when the tree makes contact with the line, you can hear the buzzing sound of the current running through it, and then it arcs at the end since that high voltage was able to break down what insulation the wood tree offered.
I’ve worked for a tree service and I’m no expert but we’ve done cuts like this many times. He did at least three things wrong that I noticed. 1.) He had his lift on the wrong side. 2.)He didn’t cut the tree to fall AWAY from the power lines. And 3.) there was no rope tied to limb being cut (with leverage on the sturdy part of the tree) with a man on the ground hold the other end of the rope, who could release the slack slowly and drop the limb slowly where a third man can grab it and pull away from the power lines. Seems like the homeowner rented his own lift and chainsaw from Home Depot and just went for it lmao
Dude is so getting fired. He's lucky he didn't get electrocuted. But imagine how many people filed complaints after they found out he caused a power outage. Does the sawing company have to pay for any damages to power companies when their employees do stuff like this?
This guy had no idea what he was doing but sometimes little bits of twigs fall in the lines when dealing with trees in close proximity to the lines and cause a power outage. The power company comes out in like 20 minutes and just turns it back on after making sure there is nothing dangerous have never heard of them charging anyone.
Power lines like this are actually bare bone. So actually, bird and quirrel do move around on live wires. And the gap inbetween is usually big enough that a dumb squirrel would never touch both negative and positive at once. But they might feel something weird when they are on the wires.
Cherry picker rental $500.00 a day Chainsaw rental $125.00 a day finding out that you have no fucking clue as to what your doing and knock out the power to 2000 customers on Super Bowl Sunday fucking pricless
Probably just a compression glitch. Now that I watch it again, maybe it's safety glasses reflecting light...but given how this went I'd be surprised if the person was wearing them...
He tied himself to the darned tree. OMG! The energy doesn't flow through the wires, but through the air immediately outside of the wires. Can you say "induction?" The electrons don't even move in the wires but allow the propogation of electromagetic field that extend outside the metal.
Too short of a description .... thumbs down ... WTF is this ... yes, planet Earth ... did they shut it off, or trip a fuse? What do they normally do (or what are they advised to do) in this situation?

Isn't wood a good insulator?

I was about to say that. I would have just got straight down from there
With a high enough voltage AND amplitude, anything can become a conductor.
@@mattaddison1910 up to 1kV wood, water and ground becomes as conductor as it were steel, he was pretty lucky.
That's a Darwin Award in the making.
That MF needs to take that truck back to home depot and go thank god
yep.
What fool cuts a tree like that around power lines?
Somebody who doesn't know what a powerline is,or about the dangers about working nearby, I guess about 90% of the people.
Absolutely
the lowest bidder
I'm guessing the one on the video :P

Looks like he was hired at The Home Depot parking lot
🤣🤣
Guys lucky.. the energized limb came into contact with his metal bucket could have easily been fatal.
"Damnit, Cletus, that's why we told you to cut it the other direction."

Better fired than fried!! Could've been fried 'til on fire!!
I can't believe you nearly got shocked and went back for more

Forrest Gump's mama had a perfect term to describe shit like this
Yes, her term for it was "dumbass".
he cut it in such a way that the whole thing fell onto the power line
I couldn’t understand how a tree-cutter would be so stupid- until I realized it was a Home Depot rental. Can’t believe his didn’t fry.
Valid point
Ummm if you call the power company the day before they will come out and cover the lines with insulated sleeves for free… that’s a better option
reminds me of days when i used to think as long as the wire is covered the current cant shock you.

Why did he tie the tree top to his bucket?!? This has to be a DIY job, not hired, not experienced, just dumb and a little bit lucky.
Did he think it was going to fall between the power lines
Holy crap what the hell were you thinking?
Say the comment in Mexican and he might answer you.
What wire contains voltage and electricity? Upper one or down one?
Tree surgeon catches fire when tree hits powerline and conducts through the metal that he's standing on. What a fool!
Wasn't it better to cut some other branches before start cutting the trunk?... Oh god...
Its even easier sawing the tree on the wires and will go up in ashes haha lol
Gets quote for $5000
"I can do it for 150"
And that's why you pay someone else to do it ;)

The chain saw guy is lucky to be alive!
If a contractor shows up with a Home Depot chainsaw rental and Home Depot truck rental. You might want to hit record like this guy did 😂
Wow was he trying to die?
Some people think because they can rent all the shit in home depot they are capable to do the job. He should thanks god every day he still alive.
No power, no TV, you're having a bad day.
A rental lift and Home Depot truck. Yes please come and trim my tree. What could possibly go wrong 🫣
Looked like he tripped a breaker. Had it not tripped he likely wouldn't be alive.
Fuse
In amerika, education and common sense obviously does not teach about 320,000 volts and what it can do.
You had one job! Can't get much for $30 a job!
And this guy was a pro?
Obviously not
0:23, was that a spark by the guy in the bucket?
Probably just a compression glitch.
Now that I watch it again, maybe it's safety glasses reflecting light...but given how this went I'd be surprised if the person was wearing them...
Only reason he is alive is because it blew the fuses with the explosion
1:02 It sounded like a Scream
Do you know what was the voltage level there and the type of tree?
What are you going to craft?
Voltage: enough
Tree: hot

Why would he cut a tree beside a live powerline? Wtf
I assume that company doesn't have required OSHA training.

Jeez Home Depot get away from that thing and call a pro.
okay
This is what happens when you are too cheap to hire a pro

this wasnt this guys only bad decision
What a maroon
Hasn’t he done enough
Somebody is getting fined and fired
His lucky to be alive should of not even been cutting on that tree if you're not contracted with the electricity company
Can ppl leave things to the pros?? Instead of renting shit from home depot 😆
this guy should have quit before he even rented the truck from home depot. I hope the power company charged him for the repairs.
It's to much carelessness that tree cutting without power off
And yet as were watching this video FOOLS around the world are doing the same thing.
Couldn't he have made it fall the other way
🤣🤣🤣🤣
