Dallas Willard taught this 5-day intensive seminary course on the psychology of redemption (the theology of spiritual formation) for Denver Seminary in January 2010. Dallas called it "THE HUMAN CONTRIBUTION TO HOLINESS, or if you like, THE HUMAN SIDE OF HOLINESS: WHAT IS OUR PART IN PUTTING OFF THE OLD PERSON AND PUTTING ON THE NEW."
In this fourteenth session (14/19) Dallas Willard speaks on:
THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE MIND: THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS-Romans 12:1-21, Phil. 2:3-16, 2 Cor. 10:3-5.
RENOVATION OF THE HEART, Chapters 6 & 7

Such an interesting conversation! I would love to go deeper into the difference between lust and passion, one being from a spirit of lack, the other coming from love itself. Lust acted upon is abuse of something created by love: food, the delight of the senses, beauty, intimacy…the abuse (wrong use) of any of these is where the sin is.

Great observation. I have thought about Lust , Desire, Passion. So far I have arrived at what is Good for the other and self. If the other is an Object Is it Godly good for self, all under the or with the presence of God. Somehow decades ago I began to worship my Wife. That was the begin of much hurt, as none of us make a good god. nothing does.
I very much enjoy Godly Good desires and Passion, but still learning. I grew up, trained up, without understanding that Love has boundries, so I am training myself up :-) Bless you on your endeavor.I suspect as we Abide and Walk, John 8: 31, 32 becomes more real and possible.
