Great question and answer at 39:30, is is possible to love God before we truly understand that we ourselves are loved?

I would like to encourage Gary to continue to expand on the idea that faith in an entry for knowledge and that a student of Jesus can experience objective knowledge of spiritual transformation. A student knows if they are changing and if they are experiencing intimacy with God. It is either occurring or not. Yes, we continue to hope for, but we also are coming to know so. We need this message today. As Dr. Willard said, there is no human problem for which apprenticeship to Jesus will not remedy. Thank you both for sharing your experiences.

Ya, keep us in the dark. What of letting the Spirit of God use the word of God to move the soul unto Godlieness by speaking his word in the way God changes use, o that's not right, take John 6:62-63! Your mentally missing the point, the word of God to speak to the answer. God word!

I love these guys and the books they write and their shared love of Dallas Willard. I will always be grateful for Gary's bio on Dallas; it was like no other bio I have read. I felt like I actually knew Dallas.

Thank you for this series. The one on the gospel Jesus preached and how change happens clearly communicate what Jesus wanted his followers to know and experience. I have given thanks so many times I discovered Dr. Willard in 2013.

Willard very definitely believes God has spoken through Jesus Christ in the flesh and recognizes the power of following His teachings concerning baptism, the Lord's Table and the body of Christ. Willard's emphasis upon Christian disciplines clarify in my mind, his rejection of gnosticism.

We had a house church in the 70s that drew hundreds of troubled students and adults. Their needs were great so I began to read about healing communities. I saw that healing communities had to have a community of people struggling to heal and grow in concert with each other. AA was a model. As were intentional psychological groups in England and Scandinavia. Two principles are required. Community that accepts everyone and healing from every member of the community. Modern churches generally have neither. Thus, growth and healing are rare.

Very insightful. I've been listening to a lot of Dallas Willard in the last week and hoping to find him talk a little about 2 Co 3:18 and the transformative function of beholding the Eternal Spirit of Jesus in the OT stories in the way Jesus talked about it. Jesus makes a big deal about it in John 3, 5, and of course by His first resurrection priority in Luke 24.

Wow, this is one of his best.

Thinking eternally begins when you realize that Your God sent His Son to live, die and resurrect for us to be rejoined in communion. Once that realization is living within, the knowing eternity is ours and that we have the Paraklete, the Holy Spirit within, nothing can harm us. Deity, death and resurrection are the three truths that assure us of this. Amen & Shalom

This is so important. I'm confident many simply profess belief that isn't established on knowledge. I've been guilty of this on multiple levels and concepts. Excellent teaching by the right person.

Agree 100% ! just finished writing a proclamation as to how my beloved wife's Fate became an instrument of white-coat criminals/ money worshipping Bariatric surgeons as they practiced contrary to the oath of professionalism. The 2.5 pages took Week to complete! Emotionally and physically very tiresome! It will be read as to where politicians hang out, state house, senate as well as courts and DOJ. She was betrayed!
