I love just how personable Scatman John was in all his interviews and performances. The priceless moment in this video to me is when he doesn’t at first nail that introductory, “I’m the Scatman!” and immediately clasps his hands together into a fidget, then comes back like a cannon on the second go. That to me encapsulates why I like him as a person so much.
“If the Scatman can do it, brother, so can you.”

TV broadcasts back then usually looked pretty OK, but most recordings on UA-cam look bad because of how they got here. A lot of the old stuff on UA-cam are old VHS recordings that were first put online in like 2006 when video was super compressed.
If you wanna see what they look like in original quality you can occasionally find some original studio recordings being uploaded today, Motorweek have uploaded a lot of their old stuff in 1080p.

    I often seek his voice.

The internet, along with written record, keeps the great ones alive. If we can keep this going his likeness will be immortalized. The same will be true for those, who will touch many with positivity, to come next; they to will also be preserved for our posterity.

    ¡GRANDE SCATMAN!
    Te extrañamos.

When I saw for the first time this song on screen in disco, I thought how could someone sing so precisely it seemed like it was tuned in automatically but this guy was really precise, I think nobody can ever imitate him, It was a message to humanity from a man who had been bullied all his life. He made his strongest point of his weakest points. Rest in peace John.
I miss 80's and 90's life was just different.
