- This is the story of the famous Mayon Volcano in Albay, Philippines. One of the greatest wonders in the Philippines, Mt. Mayon features a pointed tip and an almost perfect cone shape. However, in February 1814, the Mayon volcano erupted, burying the town of Cagsawa and its surroundings under volcanic debris. Around 2,000 people lost their lives, including those who sought shelter inside the Cagsawa Church. Today, only the ruins of the town and church of Cagsawa remain. The Cagsawa ruins may symbolize the dangers of living near an active volcano. The Mayon is still very much active and poses a continuous threat to people even now. While the Mayon Volcano is a captivating sight, let us also respect the risks it brings to our safety.

Fun fact: Mt. Mayon is also involved on what happened to 1816 along with Mt. Tambora in Indonesia which is known as "The Year Without Summer"

Today, i saw the view of the mayon volcano, and it was pretty active when i saw it , like there was actual lava coming out of the mountain and its the first time i saw it up close😮🌋

Had a good viewing of being in the church ruins on a clear sky in one calm summer afternoon around 2016
Definitely worth a check when seismic and volcanic activity should be at a quiet phase
I have learnt abt risks and hazards and yes it's been crazy when I knew idk why I wasn't scared I just felt intelligence yes smartness and nature still

Update: The Taal Volcano has a huge chance of erupting this August 24, 2024. 6pm. And on August 20, 2024. The Taal Volcano made a smog. And on January 12, 2020. The Taal Volcano erupted very seriously. Even Volcanic Lightning appeared. (It is mostly rare to most eruption.)

It's genuinely a great and terrifying photo, the truck just looking so tiny in front of a huge wall of volcanic ash. That, if they didn't escape from, they would die from burns.

I am proud to be a Filipino living in Albay. Though, the Bulkan Mayon ay dangerous pero ito ay isang pinaka magandang bulkan dito sa Pilipinas. Pero minsan or anytime, dangerous din haha! May mga ash falls na nga doon sa danger zone. Medjong takot ako 😅

Will They Recover Bones And The Underground Church?
There's no "underground church". The church initially survived after the eruption but was destroyed by nature like earthquakes and typhoons in the succeeding years
the bones became ashes .
the underground church is just straight lies.
The church is still intact but due to time and intense eruptions and earthquakes it vanished and it happened 200 years ago🗿

2 Facts: Mt. Mayon has a sister her name is Mt. Fuji in Japan and the Mayon volcano is said to be shy which is why she always hides behind the clouds aka her husband

This video reminds me of the time i went to Albay to participate in the RSPC ( Regional Schools Press Conference (i think) ) and i got to see the lava flow from a bit far away.
I also participated in the RSPC. We saw the volcano spewing lava. The lava was visible at night.
I feel bad for Albay Pilipino's cuz Mayon Volcano is active and it's magma is rising.
Also is Alert Lvl. 3, good thing rescuers are there and no Albay Pilipino's are there anymore

I have visited the church back in January without knowing the history of it. Since i know i regret not taking a photo of me in the church..
I heard from my tito in Albay he was live and the Mayon just keep erupting it looks beautiful when erupted at night but also very scary but I like the bright red lava but it's dangerous so stay safe

I remember seeing a myth about Mt. Mayon made by overly sarcastic productions (u should probably see the original cause I'm bad at explaining)
So basically, there is this super pretty girl named Magayon, a guy who I forgot the name of fell in love with her. They eventually got into a relationship, but since Magayon was u know, pretty another guy wanted her , and I also forgot his name. So Magayon's bf fought him. There are 2 things that could happen depends on who u ask it's either Magayon dies and her bf commits suicide or her bf died and Magayon commits suicide. So Magayon's father buried them but then a mountain/volcano sprouted from their grave, and they named it Mt Mayon after Magayon. They say the mountain is Magayon and the clouds is here bf really cool
