    Unfortunately it will require Europe to play out the experiment currently running with its cultural chemistry set (some of the results of which are already in) - and realise it wasn't such a good idea after all - before opinions like this will become mainstream. But please keep speaking. You (and others) are laying the groundwork for a much needed reformation of the left.

    Sam Harris' opinion and that of Maajid are always worth listening but for the benefit of doubt, I will say as humans sometimes we fall short of the glory of truth. Sam made some absolutely wrong wrong points. Seems he has been smoking something.
    - Asking a muslim to promote and encourage secularism is unislamic, so indirectly you are asking them to stop being muslims.
    - Reformation is also unislamic. You are asking them to rewrite a new Quran or Hadiths. That's a suicide mission.
    - Rejecting a Global caliphate is not a muslims choice. Its Islam's requirement. Again that's turning their backs on Islam.
    - Killing apostates or homosexuals is not from some imam, scholar or islamic university. Its Islam. Take it or leave it.
    Religion is judge by its scriptures, not its followers. Sam now reason just like the leftists and liberals that Islam is what Maajid, some neighbourhood or back yard muslims says...NO...NO...NO. Islam is what Mohammed & the Quran dictates.

      +A. Wilson B. Yeah dude I'm sure no one thought of this before. Obviously you've never bothered to learn about the history of Christianity and how they've been repeatedly yanked into line by the modern world.
      SImply stating Islamic precepts doesn't justify them and certainly doesn't constitute an argument for leaving them be and not trying to precipitate reformation.

      +A. Wilson B. That may be, but as he said...what's the contingency plan? Kill 1.6 billion people?Even if we were prepared to, I doubt it would be possible. We have to endeavor to persevere, and seeing how far we can push this has to be part of it, but I do agree that regardless...there will be blood.

      +Vibius Morquairch I don't think his argument is to leave them be because he's very aware of what they believe. He didn't offer a solution but I don't think he's wrong on these points.
      I also don't think reformation is possible without major voices in the Islamic community supporting it. I don't know if this will ever happen.

    • @thedaveastator7939
      @thedaveastator7939 8 років тому

      Well you easily could manufacture it. You could just get everyone in the world to convert to Islam ^^. Reform would happen overnight! haha
      A joke obviously, though it would certainly undermine the need for holy war if the world was peacefully dominated by Islam. I don't see how they could justify denying converts.

      +Vibius Morquairch Of course Christians did many horrible things in the name of Christianity but that doesn't mean a new gospel was preached or a new Bible was written. The enlightenment that went through Christianity was that people were asked to get their shit together and understand their Bibles rather than following the words of the Priests and Teachers which led to calamities like the Crusade. Sam and Maajid sounded like ISIS and the others are on the wrong path. No... ISIS is moving consistently according to the Quran and the teachings of Mohammed including his examples. Proposing secular values is just like asking muslims to lie to themselves or start by denying their monstrous Mohammed.
      Islam is an ideology. No army or weapon can defeat it. ISOLATION is the perfect solution. Speak the truth about it, deny any form of its politics or social dominance. It will self destruct when it can't flourish. Those involved will kill it or let it kill them.
      I don't encourage violence in anyway but what the crusade did was not to destroy islam or kill muslims, they actually Isolated it. The past hundred years of peace in the West is a testament of that isolation. I have many heroes but Sam and Maajid are certainly not one of them.

    Sam, please do a opinion piece on the transgendered bathroom issue. Personally I think that a third unisex bathroom is needed or the disabled bathroom doubling as a unisex bathroom. I don't think allowing transgendered women (male to female) PRE-Operation is a good idea. Bathrooms are for privacy. As a woman it violates my privacy especially in changing rooms. Also such laws allow any man claiming to be a woman to loiter in the women's bathroom and changing room. I fear this issue more than the first privacy issue. I belong to the LGBT community as a gay women, but I recognise the rights and concerns of women. I do not believe in the benefits of one group at THE EXPENSE of another. This is not a win-win situation. transgendered folk may be comfortable using the bathroom of their choice however it's at the expense of the comfort of women and little girls. A better outcome where both parties win, is the installation of a third unisex bathroom.
    Though a problem with over turning the anti-gay laws is that it also allows for businesses to not serve/hire gay/bisexual people. I don't know why these laws are not separated but it appears the bathroom laws and gay rights are lumped together. I think because transgendered folk are lumped together with gay/bisexual folk, despite the fact that these two issues of gender and sexual orientation have NOTHING to do with one another.

      +readu100 Make all bathrooms unisex. There is nothing that can or does happen in a bathroom that is deterred by a sign.

      That is giving legal permission for all sorts of sexual perverse and DANGEROUS behaviour against women.
      And I have NO desire to be in the same bathroom as men for obvious reasons.

      What sexual perverse and dangerous behavior, against women specifically, does that give permission to? It sounds like you're afraid of men.

    Sam just can't help but add fuel to the growing fire by deliberately caricaturing the picture and making Islam and Muslims - ever so subtly - appear suspect. People with genuine ethics know that EVEN IF it were true that Islam is a "mother load of bad ideas" speaking about it the way he does - exploiting tragic events like the one in Brussels - is only going to make the situation worse. Unfortunately Sam is much too clever and aware to know that what he says about Islam is not true. May God have mercy on him and guide him.

      +Jonaid what if someone is born in a remote part of Alaska and lives their entire live never hearing about Islam, what happens to them?

    • @1121-4
      @1121-4 8 років тому

      +iTzJSwag The Qur'an is the speech of God - NOT God Himself. If this someone born in the remote part of Alaska is a decent human being who lives a relatively moral life, they haven't anything to worry about. God is accessible to everyone, everywhere and anytime.

      With all due respect, repeating mainstream propaganda, half-truths, caricatures and outright fabrications that are easy and commonplace these days does not say "I'm informed." Rather it says "I'm utterly ignorant" or "I don't care what's true - I don't like what I hear and I can't be bothered with looking deeply into it." If any of what you said was what God taught I'd go back to being an atheist.
      No, being a good person simply means not abusing others, being honest (not covering up the truth when it's made known to you) and fair, and caring about others and not just yourself. Belief in God is mandatory once He manifests Himself to you.
