- Knotfest spent a day with Code Orange in Pittsburgh, getting a look at the one-day festival organized by the band, Code's World. The show featured as a release show for their new album The Above, as well as being a showcase on some of their peers and friends in the scene. In this documentary, the band discuss the concept of the album and how it was written, with each member adding their own flair, the DIY ethos of the band from the beginning that still holds true today, and how it feels to see their vision come together at Code's World.

You guys are just incredible on every level!
Love this band. Cant wait to see them live.
The Above got me into this band, and it’s be great listening to their catalogue and hearing the evolution of Code Orange
Same dude, its like they get progressively better & more versatile with each album, they're so talented it's insane
Yeah Get down to ATX please!
Seen them live twice! And both times they fucking killed it. One of my favorite bands right now, can’t wait to see them again when they come to ATL again.
This is special and we're here witnessing
They should come to knotfest Brazil 2024! 🤘🏻
On of the sickest performances in 2023 for sure! Too bad I saw it only on YT :D ;)
Pittsburgh proud
Band slaaaaaaps
This band is slept on so unbelievably hard
??
They are a pretty well known band when it comes to heavy music so I’m not too sure about that
Too true
No they're not
CODE ORANGE is with GOJIRA BANDS OF THE MOMENT
Esses caras sao lendas já❤
8:30 oooffffff 😬😬😬
Oh shit. I was the first one 😭
nice
Nice
TOTH
EGO runs hard with them. The more they talk in interviews it reallly shows.
They were real hardcore kids, obviously they were going to have attitude. Now they’re completely different & are nothing but grounded & humble, but again, growing up in the hardcore scene, keeping it real is in their DNA. Not the same as having a big ego like many others actually do

Jami says 'Dom writes all these incredible riffs that we don't use because that doesn't fit for us.' Moving away from the riff basis of Underneath certainly was a bold strategy. If your goal was to sell less than half the records Underneath sold, well congrats, mission accomplished!
right, because record sales are the sole indicator of an album's artistic value
Are you deaf or something? This record was just as if not more riff focused & less focused on glitchy electronics covering up or distorting the riffs. Dom wrote some of his best riffs on the record & if you follow him you know he loves this record anyway. In terms of album sales, it’s literally on par with Underneath upon its release, that album had a slow build too, & Take Shape is tracking to be one of their biggest singles in terms of streaming. The biggest song on Underneath still only has 5million streams, the biggest song on The Above is tracking on par with it with 2.1million going up fast
Dude, the album is still new & it’s doing well. Remember, they left Roadrunner to move to an indie label, so they don’t have nearly the amount of label funding pushing them. Plus, unlike Underneath, they’re actually able to tour this album to support it. It released near the end of the year, so the tour is early next year & tours drive up album sales too
Whenever I see people say that The Above isn't focused on Riffs it becomes incredibly clear to me that those people did NOT listen to the album. They only heard Mirror and then framed their opinion on that song around the whole album. The guitar work on The Above is INSANE. Like, you can't be serious with this take. Stop listening to music with 1.50$ headphones, or I don't know what to tell you. Lol
@@omnicloudv7 lol right, like as soon as it’s not something over the top aggressive it’s not a real riff, let’s ignore the fact that there’s solos & more versatile guitar work than anything they’ve done before 😂
