    This video was probably the very best one I have seen showing step by step instructions with completely thorough and one hundred percent complete cleaning. And I have watched many a video of cleaning carburetors on small engines, Probably more than one hundred hours. Notice that he never used an ultrasonic cleaner and was able to do a perfect cleaning job of a Carburetor. About the only recommendation I saw was that he goes very quickly. And so you will need to rewind the video several times to see the parts that are applicable to the viewer. Absolutely outstanding job and thanks again.

    before cleaning the carb i take ether & give a quick spray & make sure it starts before you all that work & you find out it needs a coil or ??
    where i work we use an ultrasonic cleaner & i had a club cadet snow blower i cleaned just used carb cleaner but it still surged!! i put in ultrasonic cleaner 3 times until it came & it worked great no surging!! to clean the emulsion tube & main jet! i use a welding tip cleaner! the "pins" your referring to is the governor rod & return spring! i like counting turns of the idle screw but the snow blower dont sit on idle screw Great Job 👍👍👍👍!

    I have a 1-3 year old newish snow blower , when I ran it this year it was surging alot, most youtubers say to just drill the jet out, so you beleive just by cleaning it will work? I forgot to empty the Gas from last winter so I mixed in some new gas and seafoam. I replaced the spark plug which was black, and the choke will only run smooth at 1/4 from full choke.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 роки тому +2

      Hey max I would definitely recommend giving it a quick cleaning. That usually fixes partial choke issues too. I would not recommend any drilling. It’s usually not necessary. Give it a cleaning and let me know how it goes. 👍

    Hey JB I watched this video a week ago and something you did peaked my interest. I saw you wiping her down and you said with AFT, is there a specific reason or is that the way to bring old plastic back from the dead? I told you I bought a troy bilt squall 5.5hp and she's in good condition some surface rust I've already fixed, JB I'm replacing all the ball bearings with new one three total. The ball bearings of today have very little grease in them I always clean the factory grease out and put in Mobil polyrex em grease, great for roller bearings. I wonder why the bearings come with little to no grease at all in them? Thanks again and hope to hear from you on the ATF method of shining plastic.

      Hey Ken! I like to dress up machines with ATF because it’s cheap and makes everything look like new again! It doesn’t last very long but it makes them look great! Hey JB I'm going to look at a squall 5521 this morning and wanted to know is it a decent blower she's asking $100? It looks clean she says it runs what should I look for, how do I check to see if the belts good or not? I am good with big self propelled ones but these little one not sure what to look for. Thanks my brother for all you do for us.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  Рік тому

      Hey Ken! These blowers are great for smaller amounts of snow. Perfect for getting between cars too. If it starts right up you’re probably looking at a good one. I believe one of the side panels comes off to see the belts. There are probably several bolts holding the panel on. Check the paddles (augers) if they look worn down you’ll need to spend about $30-$40 replacing them. Not hard they bolt on. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching bud!

    That guy had chickens in his gas!!
    This is what happens to ethanol gas if left in your tank/carb bowl. It phase separates. Then the ethanol (corn) settles to the bottom as water would, and attracts moisture.
    This not only leaves you with rusty/corroded fuel bowls, but also gas tanks if they are metal. Another "cool" thing about ethanol gas is that will attack rubber fuel lines, primer bulbs, and even the seats in older carbs. (They used to be rubber instead of neoprene.)
    Do yourself a favor and do NOT leave this crap in your small engines for any period of time.
    But if you want to tempt fate, be my guest. You can always come to Garage Gear, and JB will show you how to fix it the right way, ya' dummies!
    😛

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 роки тому +2

      It’s pretty remarkable how fast gas can turn. Perhaps I should do a side by side experiment to compare regular gas vs ethanol free and see when they start to turn. 🤔 thanks for giving me an idea Paul! 👍

      Not enough yet to throw any with a snowblower. Just a few dustings. Don’t worry it’ll happen. Thanks for watching Louie!

    Ultrasonic cleaners are great for this. It gets all the way in the jets and cleans them out real good.

      @@GarageGear I got mine at Harbor Freight. Inexpensive and works great. Just use a turkey baster to get the liquid out rather than pouring it. Stops it from going into the cracks.
