This video was probably the very best one I have seen showing step by step instructions with completely thorough and one hundred percent complete cleaning. And I have watched many a video of cleaning carburetors on small engines, Probably more than one hundred hours. Notice that he never used an ultrasonic cleaner and was able to do a perfect cleaning job of a Carburetor. About the only recommendation I saw was that he goes very quickly. And so you will need to rewind the video several times to see the parts that are applicable to the viewer. Absolutely outstanding job and thanks again.
Appreciate the positive feedback Frankie! 👍thanks for watching!
I would also like to add that this video was extremely informative and very well explained. At the end I’m happy to say my machine was up and running 😃🙏👍. Thank you.
Glad you found this video helpful Andy man! Thanks for watching my friend!
So glad you posted this step by step video. Very detailed yet you made it very simple to follow. We have 14” of snow coming this week and can’t get my blower in anywhere. I’m going to tackle this on my own thanks to you.
Awesome Rich! Go for it! Let me know how it goes! Thanks for watching!
JB: I'll be in the garage for a bit, honey.
Wifey: okay, have fun.
Later:
Wifey: Have you seen my two good baking pans anywhere?
JB:
Hahaha swear to god she was throwing those out and I kept them for jobs like this. But this would be a GREAT video intro down the road lol! How was your Christmas space cadet?
🤣🤣
I have this same blower - excellent video and much appreciated! I'm no mechanic but getting ready to change the oil. Had the carb replaced last winter but hope to maintain on my own in the future. Your video is a great resource for helping me :)
Hey Mike, glad you found this video helpful. Working on these machines is fairly straightforward. Just need a little time to get them done. Thanks for watching! 👍
before cleaning the carb i take ether & give a quick spray & make sure it starts before you all that work & you find out it needs a coil or ??
where i work we use an ultrasonic cleaner & i had a club cadet snow blower i cleaned just used carb cleaner but it still surged!! i put in ultrasonic cleaner 3 times until it came & it worked great no surging!! to clean the emulsion tube & main jet! i use a welding tip cleaner! the "pins" your referring to is the governor rod & return spring! i like counting turns of the idle screw but the snow blower dont sit on idle screw Great Job 👍👍👍👍!
Lots of good tips here Tim! I use ether here and there. I new this one would start from what the owners were telling me. I was thinking about getting a sonic cleaner at some point because I go through a lot of carb cleaner. I’ll look into them. Any good brands of sonic cleaners?
@@GarageGear I know carburetor cleaner use to be $1.97 at Walmart it's over $2 now ultrasounic work great! I to use to carburetor cleaner but was surprised how well it works it 3 times of running the carburetor thru it and water turned black and couldn't get the out the emulsion tube and after the cleaning it fell out you set up for 1 hour and temperature to 140deg I got mine from eBay! I refuse to use Amazon!
@@kiddbrother3 got it! Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely look into this! Appreciate your help!
3:36-3:39 He sounds exactly like Ashton Kutcher 😂
Hahaha thanks for watching andyman
I have a 1-3 year old newish snow blower , when I ran it this year it was surging alot, most youtubers say to just drill the jet out, so you beleive just by cleaning it will work? I forgot to empty the Gas from last winter so I mixed in some new gas and seafoam. I replaced the spark plug which was black, and the choke will only run smooth at 1/4 from full choke.
Hey max I would definitely recommend giving it a quick cleaning. That usually fixes partial choke issues too. I would not recommend any drilling. It’s usually not necessary. Give it a cleaning and let me know how it goes. 👍
Great step by step cleaning.
Thanks my friend! There were a lot of steps for that little snowblower! More than I anticipated! Thanks for watching bud! 👍
👍🏼👍🏼thank you this helped out so much and got my snow blower running just like new again
Awesome Tony! Glad this video helped you out!
Hey JB I watched this video a week ago and something you did peaked my interest. I saw you wiping her down and you said with AFT, is there a specific reason or is that the way to bring old plastic back from the dead? I told you I bought a troy bilt squall 5.5hp and she's in good condition some surface rust I've already fixed, JB I'm replacing all the ball bearings with new one three total. The ball bearings of today have very little grease in them I always clean the factory grease out and put in Mobil polyrex em grease, great for roller bearings. I wonder why the bearings come with little to no grease at all in them? Thanks again and hope to hear from you on the ATF method of shining plastic.
Hey Ken! I like to dress up machines with ATF because it’s cheap and makes everything look like new again! It doesn’t last very long but it makes them look great! Sold a lot of equipment doing this trick! Lol! As far as the bearings go everything is made cheaper and cheaper. You can’t go wrong grading them yourself! Thanks for watching another bud!
Thanks JB I figured that's why you used it I'll have to try it, I use Stoners trim shine on my personal stuff. I can't believe how cheaply things are made today blows my mind, bearings need grease freaking put some in lol. Thanks again for your kindness and I look forward to your next video, I'll send you pics of my troy bilt squall when I get her done to my satisfaction.
@@kensmith6708 awesome my friend! Keep me posted!
I Bought a used one, really cheap and took apart put it together kept me busy on my 1st day out of the Army now I'm praying God to start snowing, all because of your video buddy thank you
Awesome Mohammed! Glad this video helped you out! Thank you for your service! 👍
Hey JB I'm going to look at a squall 5521 this morning and wanted to know is it a decent blower she's asking $100? It looks clean she says it runs what should I look for, how do I check to see if the belts good or not? I am good with big self propelled ones but these little one not sure what to look for. Thanks my brother for all you do for us.
Hey Ken! These blowers are great for smaller amounts of snow. Perfect for getting between cars too. If it starts right up you’re probably looking at a good one. I believe one of the side panels comes off to see the belts. There are probably several bolts holding the panel on. Check the paddles (augers) if they look worn down you’ll need to spend about $30-$40 replacing them. Not hard they bolt on. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching bud!
Hey JB I bought it it's clean and the lady I bought it from says if there's anything wrong with it she'll pay for the parts. She was a super nice older lady I'll dive into and see what it might need, I looked at prices for parts for it and they're not expensive. Thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it I'll send you some pics of it.
@@kensmith6708 awesome my friend! I imagine that you’ll be in good shape! 👍
This repair replayed multiple times has saved me the headache of ordering a new carb with hopes it works the first try. Thank you Mr. For not only aiding me in getting my snow blower working, but future knowledge. Much thanks!
You got it Patrick! Thanks for watching!
Thanks man!
You got it!
i used a paper clip to clean the gunk from the little holes. Worked well for me last year. This year, my snow blower once again wont start...gonna try cleaning it up again. Soo tired of this thing.
Thanks for watching. Yeah… those carbs are not friendly.
I wish everybody made repair videos this well.
How long do you figure the gas sat in there to get that bad? Would Tru-Fuel be safe to let sit in there in the off-season, or is it better to drain the fuel bowl every year?
Hey Gary! Appreciate the positive feedback! I would imagine this fuel sat for over a year. I don’t trust any fuel to sit for an extended period of time so I always drain it out and try to use it in something else. 👍
Top notch service! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for watching Lessthanhandy! You Rock!
I got the cover off.then there is another cover that's small and I took that off. But no bolt, someone said that I have to hit the axle with a hammer and the wheel should come off. I think I'm going to have to find someone with a steering wheel puller
If you want to email me a picture of what you’re seeing feel free. My email is in the description.
Great Job!
Thank you sir! And thanks for being a cool fan of the channel Randal! 👍
That video was awesome, I followed it to the tea! After rebuilding carburetor she fired right away! Your video was quick and precise! Great job! God Bless!
Glad this video helped you out Phil! Thanks for watching! 👍
Cleaning my carb for the second time today. Never had a carb like this before. No screws or adjustments of any kind. Darn motor is setup with no user adjustable throttle. Why Crasftsman, why!?!?
Old snowblower us all painted and ready to RIP but for a dirty carb. Pics soon.
Btw, I finally realized who you remind me of. Hank Azaria.
Haha Hank Azaria! I’ve seen him before! Cool guy lol! I’m sure you’ll get that machine going soon! Send me some pics when she’s all done! Looking forward to it!
My carburator on my troy built 2100 is always plugging up..tired of it.
@@ecto1996 give these procedures a whirl. Doesn’t take much to gum these up. Little bad gas and they are toast!
Hi garage gear my snowblower runs 2 seconds then stops it’s the same snowblower that is on the video it runs for 2 seconds then dies and does the same thing when I try to start not again it only runs on the primer for some reason can you help me! Thanks!
Hey asimo it sounds like you need to do a carb cleaning on your machine like I did in this video. Follow these instructions and you’ll be all set. Thanks for watching 👍
Seems hard and I put gas in the oil on accident too lol
@@BrothersLifeStyles if you follow this video you shouldn’t have any issues. I would definitely drain the oil out and put clean oil back in.👍
What’s this videos intro music name it’s so 😎
@@BrothersLifeStyles I’ll have to look it up. I’ll get back to you on it! I have a whole library of UA-cam music.
awesome video!! you ever thought about getting an ultrasonic cleaner? Ive been tossing around the idea lately.
You know, every time I do a carb cleaning I consider buying one. I’m going to look into one and see how much they run. I’ll let you know what I find. Plus I have a box full of carbs we can test it out on. Thanks as always for being a cool fan of the channel bud!
This is such a quality video, thank you sir
You got it my friend! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. Great detail as usual
Thanks JS! There were a lot of steps for that little snowblower! Thanks for watching my friend! 👍👍👍
@@GarageGear that was the nastiest carb I’ve seen in years.
@@js12278 the yard machines snowblower I did over the summer had a bowl that was worse but this one had a worse emulsion tube! I’ve never seen a tube that bad.
I bought one of these today. Good informational resource. Thanks.
You got it Maxwell. Congrats on your purchase! 👍
Great Video , Thumbs Up 👍
Thanks for watching midnite
You make carb cleaning easy.. thanks for the how to!🎁🎄
ROCK ON GARY! Just gettin’ her DUNN! How was your Christmas?
@@GarageGear was relaxing for us. No crazy for the Dunns, how was yours?
Giving the carb bowl a gentle snug twist to seat the seal helps a lot. nothing more annoying then re seating a leaky bowl after assembly. great vid bro awesome channel
Thanks again blooky! Are you interested more in lawn content or snowblower content?
@@GarageGear No snow where i live Neighbor envy content is good and preservation and maintenance makes your channel awesome. You can never be too meticulous when looking after the shed contents. just bought the HRN for my lawn and found your channel i been following your preservation methods Awesome stuff bro. Keep that neighbor envy content flowing. LOL

Awesome Dave! Glad that you’re finding all these videos helpful! Are you more interested in snowblower content? Lawn care? Or something else?
I noticed that the Cub Cadet version is the only one with an led headlight, sure these companies all use the same blueprint. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t implement their own changes into it
I’m sure the companies have some say in how they each look to make them stand out . 👍
love your videos dude keep it up
Thanks for the positive feedback schizm! Comments like this keep me going! Thanks for watching!
Hi! I’m about to clean my carburetor but I don’t have an air gun! Will it air dry and still work ok??
Should be fine just let it sit in a warmer area for a several hours to thoroughly dry! Thanks for watching Anne!
Nice :)
Thanks for watching!
I have a toro. I just priced a carb, $13.98. I just ordered one. I think its going to be a lot easier. Good video though.
Thanks for watching Bill!
That guy had chickens in his gas!!
This is what happens to ethanol gas if left in your tank/carb bowl. It phase separates. Then the ethanol (corn) settles to the bottom as water would, and attracts moisture.
This not only leaves you with rusty/corroded fuel bowls, but also gas tanks if they are metal. Another "cool" thing about ethanol gas is that will attack rubber fuel lines, primer bulbs, and even the seats in older carbs. (They used to be rubber instead of neoprene.)
Do yourself a favor and do NOT leave this crap in your small engines for any period of time.
But if you want to tempt fate, be my guest. You can always come to Garage Gear, and JB will show you how to fix it the right way, ya' dummies!
😛
It’s pretty remarkable how fast gas can turn. Perhaps I should do a side by side experiment to compare regular gas vs ethanol free and see when they start to turn. 🤔 thanks for giving me an idea Paul! 👍
Do you know how the gas tank is held in place? I was putting gas in it and the tank dropped down. I grabbed the filler neck with pliers and pulled it back up. The gas cap is now holding it up.
Hey Dan, there is a thin metal bracket held up by one screw which is mounted to the plastic red cover. I’ll bet that your plastic screw Mount is cracked or broken. I would drill a hole through the cover where the screw mount was and hook the metal bracket up with a bolt through the cover. They really cut corners designing that gas tank mount. Hope this helps ! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, snow storm expected tomorrow in New Jersey. I tried the electric start, for the first time. It started right up.
@@dane5896 awesome my friend. I’m in Buffalo getting some heavy snow as we speak. Have fun tomorrow!
Thanks for the video. I did know how to remove the cover. I need to change the oil.
How do you get the rear wheels off
There are wheel covers over the bolts. The cover should just pop right off.
Have you gotten any snow yet?
Not enough yet to throw any with a snowblower. Just a few dustings. Don’t worry it’ll happen. Thanks for watching Louie!
Ultrasonic cleaners are great for this. It gets all the way in the jets and cleans them out real good.
I’m looking into getting one. I clean enough carbs to make it worth my while lol. Thanks for watching Avega!
@@GarageGear I got mine at Harbor Freight. Inexpensive and works great. Just use a turkey baster to get the liquid out rather than pouring it. Stops it from going into the cracks.
@@tommclaughlin1041 thanks for sharing this tip my friend! Appreciate it! 👍
So annoying doing this for the worthless ethanol in gas nowadays. ALWAYS USE ETHANOL FREE FOLKS
Right on! 👍
