Hi Finn, right from Day 1 and building the shed, every follower has your back, and we are all so appreciative of every one of your videos whenever they arrive. I just wish I wasn't 12,500 miles away here in NZ, or else as a retired joiner/carpenter I would be giving you a hand , even if it was just to sweep the floor, sharpen the chisels and make the tea! Thanks also for sharing your other works, and whilst I know you're too modest to admit it, but I bet you're an integral part of the boatyard.
Remember Finn: a good boat builder makes mistakes, but a better boat builder knows how to hide them. Excellent video / video work. The short breakaways to sailing, other boats in the yard, and goings on is nice and makes the videos more interesting. Very well done and good camera work.
If I can give a tip as a 30 yr professional carpenter/woodworker- use anti-vibe gloves when sanding, and use knee pads when kneeling. If you do this before you notice issues, you’ll thank yourself in 20 yrs.
Finn do yourself a favour. Buy a cheap laser level. One with cross lines. They are incredibly handy for boat building. Sure water levels do an ok job, but having used them quite a few times, they don’t win any convenience awards, and fall way short of what a laser level can do in many situations. Like projecting horizontal and vertical lines etc. They make excellent reference points where nothing is flat, level, or straight on a boat. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Knott a problem, Finn. You gotta do what you’ve gotta do. Always good to see a wherry under way, as usual you’ve knocked the music right out of the park and hey, your boat’s progressing. Take care fella, cheers from Cornwall. 😎👍🍻
Dear Finn. 👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). Working five days a week, restoring a big sailboat and all the filming/editing effort is quite a big challenge. So: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health.
Finn little and often will get you to where you want to be, we just love coming on the journey with you and most of us give you a thumbs up and comment to help you get rewarded on UA-cam for your "most excellent videos Dude!"
Well done and thanks for that Tony, I was wrongly putting them as gleaming 6LXB's, I have an old 6LW in my launch that is destined to be replaced by a (fully re-coed) 6LXB. Great to see the beautiful works and care extended to the engineering too.
Great video, real nice balance of music, outside interest and your project. Keep up the good work and I am happy to be waiting for your next video because it is always a pleasant surprise.
Silver Lass is a beautiful looking boat,with..the bonus of Gardner engines.your boat is coming along nicely. It must be difficult fitting it in with your regular job .cheers Roly 🇬🇧.
Well, fife days a week grinding, keeping up the work on Your own trough *_and_* filming/editing is quite the task - so, getting a video shared on UA-cam every once in a while is a treat. Nothing to be worried about. Nice little boating infrastructure surrounding You, obviously. That helps in sourcing payed work and spares/leftovers alike, I reckon. Thanks for the work put in and for sharing!
Hi Finn. Who does your background music for your channel, you could release a good C.D.compilation of tracks. Always good to see a new video, keep up the good work .
umm… you work on boats, or with boats… did you forget about the yurts and other similar stuff you do? Nice progress on the rebuild. Wish my hand woodworking skills were as good as yours! (Chopping mortises is my bane-wish I could make sure nobody could ever open them!) The _Silver Lass_ is a beautiful lady, and your camera work is exemplary. Wow! Wish that kind of display was available when I was a crane operator! (Previous century.) Nice to see the primer covering the stern. My, those fair lines are becoming visible, what a fine yacht that will be!
Hi Finn I love watching watching your channel and the progress your making, i i binge watched Tally Ho and that's what led me to you, not only do i love your channel but as a big Blues lover your choice of music is a no brainer for me, i know in the past you've put up the track name and artists in your credits and i've gone looking for other stuff that they've done and loved it, keep it coming mate.
The ship craning looks interesting as well. Never realised that is a profession. If you ever find the time to make a short video about what machinery and skills it entails you've got my viewership. And patreon backing.
Always happy to see a Gardner oil engine part of my HGV apprenticeship was rebuilding them they are unique. Great to see your progress it’s a hell of a commitment.
Well done Finn. She's really looking better every video. I have worked two full time jobs before and it takes a certain kind of individual to pull it off. It's really difficult to stay motivated. Keep it up! Cheers from Huntington Beach California.
So how much paint did you get on yourself when you fell off the platform painting the last bit of the stern. Hope you didn't tweak your back or knees. Did my back in once missing the last step on a staircase. Cheers from Sequim.
Here in the midwest area if you're licensed crane operator you'd make a great living.. the guys who go to Chicago and work through the week make $100 per hour or more and you're close to the great lakes
What a beautiful yacht Silver Lass is. Which port was she sailing to in the video for her fitting out? Also, when you showed the leaking joints in the final boat you had craned in, was that the normal situation whilst waiting for the planks to 'plumb-up', or was it a bit more serious than that. To my untrained eye, it looked as though the water was coming in from multiple gaps. Thanks Finn - I think you like boats!
She really is a stunning yacht. She’s gone to Ramsgate marina for the final stages of work to be carried out. The leaky boat was expected, it had been sat on dry land for a good 5 years so all the planks had shrunk considerably, a few hours after sitting back In The water she had taken up and swollen enough to stop all the leaking.
Hello Finn, I am refitting our family sailboat, a Samson C-Deuce 45, I am looking for an insurance company, have you find one ?if so please share. Thank you Congrat on your work. always interesting to watch. Daniel
When ever you get the time Fyn. It’s always a pleasant surprise when you pop up. I can appreciate what an effort it must be. Good onya from Australia
You have the best music of any channel on UA-cam. Leo is second. Tally Ho!
I agree. In fact it was when I heard him using Sally Goodin that I decided to become a Patron.
Man.. you take all the time you want. I'm still going to watch these.

Just when I felt like I was missing a boat restoration video, up pops Finn!
Don’t worry Finn..we’ll take what we can get when we can get it…….stay healthy and be safe!
You can't pull an apple out of a seed.
I like your choice of music, cheers.

Working 5 days a week certainly sucks but I admire your perseverance in moving forward with your boat. Love your videos :)

Wow, Silver Lass is stunning... someone definitely had a good sized piggy bank at one time and its now in a beautiful boat..
That craning segment was very uplifting!

She's looking great. Lovely lines. Look forward to the next update!
Nice pair of Gardner 6LXs.

This is the most interesting yacht building project now in UA-cam. And I like the style Finn has. By the way I live in Finland and I am a sailor.
Always good to see one of your videos, Finn. Nice to see progress and a splash of paint going on. Thanks for sharing.

Post what you can when you can. Quality over quantity! The coat of primer really made the work you did jump out.

Nice engine room.nice boat if you like diesel.
Looking good Finn. Question...What are all those holes in the hull?
To let the water out
@@Ibh111142 😁
The holes you can see are the fixing points for all the chain plates.

Does that scribed edge not show up the fact that your deck at the sheer isn't fair?

Knees on first shot and no warning )))))))))
Try putting your paint tray in a plastic bag before putting the paint in the tray , it saves a lot of cleaning,
Iv built 2 ferro yachts , A ROAC 39 & Finished a lengthened Hartley 38 to 42` , I ended up using pavement paint , Stayed on ?

Finn, what was that boat with sails?? I'm American, was that one of those steel sailing barges
How old is boat? Was it in the evacuation of Dunkirk?
Hi Finn, I thought You(ve quit.) were quite bussy with girls and beer :) Good to see You working.
No quitting going on here!
