I run prodigy with [Thrummingbird], [Grateful apparition], and [Mikaues, the Lunach] to spam and proliferate counters, (I also like [Static Prison] and [Succumb to the Cold] in there) it's an amazing draw source in that deck (hmu if you want an azorius stun counter control deck that doesn't need counterspells to win) EDIT: I really like this build, everything seems like "random good cards" but they all synergise surprisingly nicely. the only thing I'd change is i'd swap the [Unsummon] for [Slip out the Back] because of the extra +1 counter... and maybe karn's bastion as a proliferating mana sink? idk.
Many of those cards appeared when I looked them up under Timeless, but only the Thrummingbird appeared under Standard (I couldn't find a couple of them at all, maybe the spelling is off?) Timeless, to me, is crazyland lol. So fast and insane deck building. If I were to play I couldn't keep up, unless I made it my main game play for deck building. Making more counters for the Prodigy is a good idea though. I find the little guy gets smoked very quickly once people realize his potential :P
@@TheDingGaming yeah sorry, I come from paper and pauper - this "only the last couple sets in toxic-town" game is... less fun than busting out wacky synergies with friends at a table, we make do with what's available sometimes... Anyways, ever considered that mythic Kaito (Cunning Infiltrator) for this deck? should work well with Proft's memory since it draws cards, and then the payoff is making a lot of ninjas (blockers)
I'm looking through what's available on MTGA under "standard" and I'm seeing [Unable to Scream] which looks a little more toxic and more powerful than [Unsummon] - and if you want the prodigy to get big, I'd suggest also finding a protection spell also, if I had infinite wildcards, I'd toss 2-3 [Kaito, Cunning Infiltrator] in there, as it's a scary threat that draws cards and makes ninjas. If you were to cut anything I'd suggest the [Faerie Mastermind] and no more than 2 lands (mastermind is great, but in these matches it really didn't show why it earnt that spot in your deck)
@@TheDerpyDeed Good point about Kaito, I think he could replace the Mastermind. I liked the Mastermind mostly for the flying and flash but as you noted, they didn't work well enough to warrant a place in the deck (I've been cooking up a Kaito deck in my mind lately, and partially didn't want to use him in this deck as it would make the future deck concept less impressive. I tend to not try to overuse cards in decks too often :) The Unsummons were used for the ability to save our own creatures, while also having the ability to disrupt our opponent for cheap. Sometimes just stalling the opponent was enough to get ahead for the remainder of the match. I didn't want to focus too much on just the prodigy, as this was more about getting unblockable creatures through to finish opponent off before they got into their endgame. Might be worth reconsidering a few tweaks as the prodigy did do well when combined with the PEM.
@@TheDerpyDeed No apology necessary. I enjoy any feedback. Sometimes other cards can lead me to rethinking using similar cards. I replied to your Kaito suggestion in my other reply to your other comment.
