  • In which Jon Anderson and Steve Heimler of Good Buddy Fly Fishing throw down in a friendly competition to see who can catch the most fish for the coveted prize: a roll of toilet paper.
    With everyone quarantined and trying to stay healthy, we sure do hope some fly fishing from the Good Buddies can bring some cheer into your life. So far, nobody has gotten sick from a trout, so might as well get out there.

    Funny concept. Congrats to the winner! Hand sanitizer would have been a nice consolation prize. Glad you two could get back together and share a stream! Keep up the great work, thanks for putting out a video.

    Yep, good to have you guys back on the water and UA-cam. Levity in these tough times is essential. While I live in Oregon, I now have family in central NC and will be visiting in September. Booked a room for a few days in Bryson City. Seems like a central locale to then wet a fly. Looking to hire a guide. Of course, all is assumes that life will be back to normal.

      Yeah Bryson City is phenomenal... it was our favorite day last time we went to Cherokee

    Love this. Went running at that Mill just the other day. Was very curious as to if there were any fish in some of those good runs. Thanks for answering that for me lol

      Watch our urban fishing video. We caught some fish out there. It seems like the fish move up there when the weather starts cooling off.

    John how do you like that rod? I looked at them at the Fly Fishing Show. Thought they looked like an interesting idea with the way they seat. How does it fish?

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  4 роки тому

      I like it a lot. I am using a compact line now but I think I would like a traditional weight forward on it for my style of fishing. Handles fish real well. No complaints yet.

    Hitting up the dam this weekend. I've never waded the hooch before. how long of a leader would you recommend coming off of a hopper dropper for that stretch?

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  4 роки тому

      It really depends. I generally go 24-36 inches below the dropper. The fish are looking up most of the time so you can get away with a shorter dropper but they are looking for real small bugs. I use size 18 and 20 black and silver zebras all the time. The dam is super slick so be careful. Sometimes I catch more water in my waders than fish in the net. They are generating tomorrow but maybe Sunday will be down.

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  4 роки тому

      Oh yeah. My leader is usually between 7 and 9 feet to the dropper.

    Good Buddies that was NOT proper social distancing. If you should get the corona virus you must post periodic videos of the decay into death. How did you get into the rec area to fish, I thought they were all closed? Best of luck with the virus. Kidding of course.

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  4 роки тому

      Fortunately this was pretty early on. Before they closed everything. It’s been more than two weeks since we filmed our last 2 videos. Thanks for watching man.
