“I do it my way, you like my way just enjoy it, you don’t like my way don’t watch the channel.” I’m sure you have decades more experience than many of your critics. Mr. Chan, thank you for sharing your immense knowledge.
This is one of the best Bonsai channels, and you will learn real knowledge from this channel. Very educational and peter is genuine and cares about the people and the plants. The only thing negative thing i could say about Peter is he always says there is no wrong way but i watched several vids of him helping people trim and wire Bonsais and he is a bit like a back seat driver and always ends up his way. I cant bash him for that b/c i am similar in that sense. LOL
Peter is a master bonsai artist that takes you through a myriad of designs you can consider. So many options. Thank you for your tutorial bonsai videos.
Many sweet Junipers Mr. Chan, but I liked the 3 trunk tree turned 90 deg clockwise, the way you showed it, probably some shari on the thick trunk to make it look a little thinner, so inspiring, thanks for the video, I know it takes a lot of work to shoot and to edit for our enjoyment.
Your literati styling videos have inspired me to appreciate long spindly nursery material i previously thought had no value! Not evrything needs a massive spectacular mature trunk and strong taper. 👍
_THANK YOU for sharing 🙏 😔 🙏_ Dr. Chan, this was a very relaxing video. I love so much watching you wire. Things will begin one way and you will finish another. You have my total attention. 🌲🙏🖖🙏😔🙏🌲
I love that you're bringing attention to the San Jose Juniper. I use them a lot for bonsai because the trunks really fatten up fast compared to other junipers. They move resources really well so I like to graft shimpaku to them... which energizes the shimpaku making them grow with more vigor. Its a joy to see you work!
Mr. Chan, I am so thankful for your videos. This one also, as I am learning the art of bonsai since June 2023 and currently working on a juniper San Jose for my level II with Bonsai Gros Bec in St Alphonse de Rodriguez, Quebec, Canada. I appreciate your approach, guided by some principles and yet, so free at the same time. Literati being one of my favorite style…I am already sold to your trees today. Once again, gratitude for all that you do. Sylvie Simard
@@peterchan3100Dear Mr. Chan, along with your book Bonsai The art of growing and keeping miniature trees, I will follow your advice. Thank you for your reply. With sincere regards, Sylvie Simard
Perfect tim8ng! I have been searching for a juniper here in No. VA for a few weeks! None are found right now. Very interested in this video and others like it.
Thanks so much for having us! To anyone who never visited Heron's yet i recommend it a 1000% so beautiful! Great video as always, like mentioned I love your voice so much, so soothing and great content as always! Hope I will achieve the same with my channel one day
I assume it's not that important but I think it's "Juniper Virginiana (not "Chinensis") Grey Owl". I have quite a lot of them and propagating is quite easy (search for the instructions, given by Mr. Chan; "heel cuttings"). After years of working with and on them, I can confirm that it's a very tolerant and very strong species, very well suited for bonsaï I think. Young cuttings easily survived frost periodes outdoor, even in rather small pots... During the year, colours may vary from a blueish green or grey green to green or dark green. It is just a little bit less refined than Itiogawa and not that "fresh green" or "yellow green" but very much cheaper and far more easy to get... I live in Western Europa (The Netherlands) in about the same climate conditions as Herons. I salute you, Mr. Chan!
Thank you. Well, it's all been quite succesfull and in fact, it's mainly thanks to your tips and advices, here, on the Herons Bonsai UA-cam channel! That goes for propagating Japanese Maples too and also a few other species. So again: thanks a lot!@@peterchan3100
I would like to see some videos on bonsai done without wiring. I like the idea of not using wiring on the ones I'm doing and it would be great to see someone of your experience show some without wiring.
You are truly a master and your approach is so important to us beginners. I would like to know what you mean by heavy fertilizing. Is it the NPK, frequency amount etc. I would appreciate any info you can offer. Thanks!
I will try and demonstrate this point when we start fertilising all our plants. For the moment we are only feeding our junipers early as an experiment.
Pricing is a difficult thing to explain - Its economics - supply and demand. Depends on where you live - how strong is the market ie Demand. How desirable are the trees and so on. Marketing is more than just price - it's the Product, Position in the market, your Premises and so on. Not as simple as one would think.
At about 19:35 minutes you say you do not allow your trees to grow too vigorously but more slowly to develop trunk character. How do you achieve that - slower growth?

We've never tried San Jose junipers here before, but looking at the potential you've shown, we now want to try. They're beautiful!

good suggestion - I will try my best but it is difficult.
@@peterchan3100 Thanks, I want to be as natural as possible without using wires. That and wires are really expensive.

mr peter could you do a video breaking down how you price trees for sale or to estimate the value? thank you sir!

Did anyone catch the name of the visitors UA-cam channel?
Hashiramabonsai. They left a comment here as well.
How does one prevent junipers from becoming overly spindly? How can one promote thickness?
At about 19:35 minutes you say you do not allow your trees to grow too vigorously but more slowly to develop trunk character. How do you achieve that - slower growth?
Let them vigorously in the ground or in large pots but also trim back the long shoots or branches to prevent the tree becoming spindly,
👍👌👌🙂
So cute the nice young UA-camr. Someone could spell the channel name? Thank you guys and go Peter gooo!!

The best importer of Japanese bonsai to the UK. Ever. Otherwise, geriatrically verbose and mediocre.
And what exactly are your laurels? Arm chair critic?
