Beowulf is an old English epic poem consistently of 3182 alliterative lines. It is the oldest surviving long poem in all English and is commonly cited as one of the most important work of old English literature. It was written in England some time between the 8th and the early 11th century

• Found- A single manuscript- Cotton MS Vitellius-1010A.D
• Author:- Unknown- recited by Anonymous bard
• The date of its composition is not certain however, it is supposed to be written the 8th century.
• Denmark, (Southern Swede)- Land of Geats
• Principal characters:-
i) Beowulf- A hero
ii) Hrothgar- King of Denmark
iii)Wealhpeow- Queen Of Denmark
iv) Grendel- A monster
v) A Dragon
vi) Unferth- A Danish warrior
vii) Wiglaf- the kinsman who fought at Beowulf’s side
• Short Summary:-
A monster Grendel has been terrorizing King Hrothgar’s Hall, Heorot, for a long time. Beowulf fights Grendel and mortally wounds him. He tears his arm of. When Grendel’s mother arrives to revenge her son’s death, Beowulf follows her to her home underwater and kills her as well. Beowulf is now celebrated as a Hero among the Danes.
50 years later, a dragon wrecks havoc on the people of the Geatland when he disturbed while guarding a pile of Treasure. He kills the dragon while himself sustaining mortal wounds. The Epic ends with the Funeral scene of Beowulf.
• Scot Edwin Morgan and Irishman Seamus Heaney retranslated Beowulf into modern English.

BEOWULF-BEOWULF is a heroic poetry ,considered the highest achievement of old English literature and the earliest Europon vernacular epic. It deals with events of the early 6th century CE and is believed to have been composed between 700and 750 .Beowulf is 3182 lines work.....

Beowulf is a long epic of the Anglo-Saxon Poetry. It was found in Cotton MS Vitellius manuscript. It is written in West Saxon Dialect. It has 3182 lines recited by an anonymous bard. It deals with events of early 6th century and believed to be written in 8th century. It is written in two parts and this epic ends with funeral scene of Beowulf.

Beowulf has 3182 lines. It was written between 9th to 11th century. It is divided into two books. Ist book talks about killing of Grandel, a monoster who attack Hrothgar. Grandel's mother is also killed in 1st book. IInd book talks about bepwulf's killing of a dragon and Beowulf's death also.
