I would love for anyone to put the ingredients in the comments section,i am 🇯🇲that love yr food i order 3times a month on urbereats.I would love to try make it at home
Beef, cow skin, bonga fish 🐟 (also Ethmalosa fimbriata) or you can use any dried fish., locust bean, pepper, palm oil, seasoning to taste with of course, your blended and dried ogbono and sliced okro.
I went to African Caribbean store a bit out of my area here in canada,i ask the lady i now call aunty.I got the ingredients meat and all in one place, got home and made it without too much pepper.I tasted really nice since my thyroid surgery i cant have spicy food.So thank you alot k will make it more often at home now❤️❤️🇯🇲
@@chocolatema1I was going to suggest going to the local store as well! Great job. lol I’m Nigerian and can’t even make this. Attempting very soon. Any tips ?
This delicious soup is not native to the Igbos o. So many tribes in Nigeria traditionally make this soup, though in different ways. I'm Yoruba, and this is a soup that has been a staple back even before my great grandma days. But traditionally, we eat it with or without the okra added, BUT we don't add vegetable leaves (such as Ugwu ) like most Easterners and South South people do.
So if u don't add Ugu like most Easterners and southerners do. Then it's not ur soup. Let it be known to those tribes that understands the soup and how perfect it's made. Na so it be Ogbonor and Okro

@@therichfields I can’t be a bad cook if I recognize that your okra isn’t cooked just in the video. Loool if you like crunchi okra with waxy after taste this is fine but some people prefer their okra cooked well with the seeds turning white to pink. Plus don’t think ogbono is that hard to cook loooool……it also takes salt at the end not before it is added to the stew to have maximum pull.
If you don’t have nothing nice to say just stay quiet. That is ppl cultural food you’re talking about. Do your research on others and stop being ignorant
Exactly how I learnt from my mum😊, but I add Ugu leaves at the end.

Bro I learned something in this... Nice. I like the idea of ogbono paste. Thanks, I will run with this😂
Oh oh this is another nice method which I’m going try. Yummy! Yummy!
Correct one from Eastern Nigeria precisely the Igbos… though I would add some green veggies like Ugu leaves ♥️😘❤️

Some of those ingredients like "ogbono" and "iru" have local names. You might not know them.

Hi, I am Jamaican who love African dishes, but have to enjoy from a far 😅 we don't have a lot of these ingredients. What is Ogbono?
Ogbono is a native name for bush mango seeds.
It is usually fermented and dried before cooking.

Hi Kiki, please a proper Ogbono soup doesnt have Iru in it. Wh3n you do that it now represents another dish. A South Easterner can correct me
❤❤❤❤❤🇹🇬
I am from Ghana and I will try this. Is it okay to fry the ogbono in the palm oil?
No it's not.. the ogbono isn't supposed to be fried they're several methods of cooking ogbono soup and this is one of them if not the easiest
Does traditional African food include the dried fish?
Yes it does. Most of our Nigerian soups includes dry fish
What is ogbono
