The 405 is my favorite locomotive. She came through Rutland a few weeks ago on an excursion so I rushed down to see her. She still looks brand new and still purrs like a kitten, and still smokes like and Alco. Thanks for this awesome video, new subscriber here.
Fun Fact: The RS-1 is the longest produced diesel locomotive (19 years) in history! The second-longest is the GE ES44AC, produced for 17 years and 9 months now.
When I think of Alco, I usually first think of that I wish a DL109 or C855 could have been preserved. And good to see UTA 901 next. I see that unit in person quite frequently.
I agree. I also noticed a quick comment earlier replying to a spam bot. Thank you for the concern, but I don't recommend replying to those bots just in case. I'm notified if they comment on a video, so this way I can ban them from the channel asap.
I'm surprised they have not scraped it . It sitting in Bellows falls Vermont train station with Christmas lights on when I was there either dec28 or dec 29 2020
@@Pensyfan19 I'm glad to hear that as far as I know she didn't operate on under her own power during December because if I am correct just like a vintage car an Alco diesel is difficult to start in cold weather Which is why they used a Vermont Railroad GP38 To move her around
It’s still around, it was decorated with lights and parked in Chester last winter for Christmas. All of VT’s railroads and a few lines in NY are under Vermont Rail System now. My girlfriend is actually a mechanic for VRS and 405 is her favorite engine.
Thanks for taking the suggestion😁

I think this loco is what made me like the RS engines so much. I live in the area and enjoy taking the excusion trains on that line with my wife

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing that info.

I don't know, I just feel satisfaction out of making fun of them for how stupid their comments are.
@@superbaddy4 Understandable. I just report them so that they can't fool anyone else.

It also pulled a single observation car with Christmas lights a few weeks ago to spread Christmas cheer in the area.
Awesome

Aww thanks!
Also a suggestion for a remarkable engine’s video is prr 520
Now that the Green Mountain railroad has been bought out by Vermont Central Railroad whatever happened to the Green Mountain 405?
As of now, I'd assume it's still used for excursion services. It just had a small one in December.

What’s the next episode your thinking of doing
My most recent episode was West Coast Express 906, and my next locomotive on that series will be Escanaba and Lake Superior 600.
@@Pensyfan19 nice and are you going to do more episodes on unusual locomotives
@@ilike_trainzzero2402 That's the purpose of Remarkable Engines: to cover little known locomotives around the world that are unique in their own ways.
Hey, what do you use for editing?
Everything up to ELS 600 was Windows Video Edotor, but nowadays I use DaVinci Resolve.
@@Pensyfan19 Thanks!
Hey I work with that locomotive
When I think of ALCO, I think of the U-Boats. (Nickname of certain group of engines built by ALCO)
I think the U-boats you're referring to were built by GE, but I can see why since ALCO and GE were once a single company.
GE is just the child that didn’t become successful like it’s father (ALCO)
