It's amazing: this did nothing that a slightly larger set of drivers wouldn't have done a lot simpler and cheaper, but at the same time raised the center of gravity and introduced all sorts of additional axles and bearings. -Later on the drawings would have passed in front of a couple of mechanical engineers and probably wound up in a fireplace within minutes!
Even then it would have ended up in a fireplace if it had passed in front of even a single honest mechanical engineer. The problem: That's not where it went.
Even if it did double the speed, it would cut the towing capacity in half, so... how is this useful? Trains were already the fast way of travel, in comparison to horses, so there was no real reason to make them that much faster again so soon.
How do you discover these crazy trains? All of these images are amazingly weird. These are some fascinating engines! I thouggt I knew a lot about trains but clearly not as these were new to me.
There used to be a great website detailing many of these weird trains from around the world in detail, seems to have dropped off the web. Shame I remember spending many hours on it years ago but nice to see a lot of these otherwise forgotten freaks getting fresh attention on UA-cam.
First, why don't you slow down a bit and pronounce your words clearly. In several places, only you know what you are saying. Information like this is more than welcome to rail fans and locomotive - or as you pronounce it Lochmmmem or something like that. buff's. No one is taxing you per second and a minute longer to clearly understand that you are talking about a fiasco would make the story a lot more interesting. I would like to give a thumbs up for concept and thumbs donw for execution - I'll just them them cancel out.
Why don't you SLOW DOWN. You rush over words and jumble them in being unintelligable. What is the rush - so the posting is a minute longer - who cares oif we can understand what you are saying. Yes, any fool would have seen that adding all those wheels and gear would be a disaster in the making.
I just talk quick. If I talk quickly in my vids, it's because I probably had a limited amount of time to record, and had to rush everything before starting another project. That was especially the case for the first half of this video since I had less than 30 minutes to record before starting a virtual event.
Serious railfan: Thomas is a disgrace to steam locomotives everywhere.
Holman Abomination: Hold my beer.
Why?! 😂 At least Thomas is quite accurate when representing locomotives

@@riccardoolago I agree.
I find those locomotives somewhat unsettling to look at
Thanks so much for covering them! I only ever saw photos of them online not knowing their history.
The most scary thing is. The Holman locomotive scams you

They NEED to make a model of this!

I honestly really want to see a video of this thing moving
This Holman locomotive Thing? makes the AA-20 look like a reliable useful locomotive

A wide variety of sources, but some unusual engines are pretty well known on Google images and Discord servers.

This is amazing such a weird locomotive. Now I’m thinking is the possible to build out of legos
Ah, a selection from the Loco Locomotives exhibit at the Museum of Retrotech.
My last name is Holman, so this is extremely interesting. It is an ancient German name.
Nice pictures of those antique trains love those classic trains. Nice video.
Thanks. I had to use the same ones for the Holman Horror over again since those were the only ones I could find.
What a monstrosity, but I'd love to see film of them in action.
The Fallout 76 of locomotives.
It's the loop 100 years early
if their was a gear in the driver and the "wheels" under at the same ratio then it would run faster
seems like it did do its job but it didnt do it right, like 80 mph yes thats a increase to the 25 MPH THOSE LOCOMOTIVES DID
This could have worked if they just used side ways anti gear reduction
They should have preserved this abomination
heck imma subscribe because this is cool
liked video
I get cancer every time I look at one of these locomotives
Are they going to be featured on Dead on Arrival?
0:15 what engine is that!?
