When he mentioned the part about deep frying the paneer that's what I loved about this recipe years ago. Frying the paneer gives it more of a bite & made it more of a comfort food.

Just made this- amazing! I just wanted to note that there is no garam masala in the description below the video. I also used two tablespoons of ghee instead of 5, and i blended everything together- spinach, onion, tomatoes, etc to make the sauce smooth. Thank you for the recipe!

Am an avid viewer of your channel and enjoy your presentation and cooking skills. Made this recipe and was fantastic. But didn't blanch the palak as you had suggested. Instead I cooked it with little salt and open cooking. The colour green was vibrant. As it was pureed in water released during its cooking, all the nutrients of palak was retained.
The cubed paneer pieces I soaked it in hot water with salt and turmeric. It absorbed a little salt and was tasty rather than bland form.
Believe in think and cook rather than cook and think.
Would like to hear 👂 from you about my twists.

Superb recipe .. I have made many versions of palak paneer never worked .. I tweaked this recipe slightly little - it came absolutely delicious and crowd pleaser .. instead of red dry chilies I sautéed green chilly and 1 green chilly blended with palak and added cream and butter and added a little garam masala .. I blended the sautéed veggies as well ..

Great recipe, actually very simple and not too time consuming. Wondering why to squeeze water from spinach and adding water later during blending ? Why not just dump spinach into blender.
After blanching and cooling I just dump all the spinach with few ice cubes which helps to blend better. Rest I follow the recipe. Came out great.

I remember watching this video during the pandemic and I gotta say the technique is very important here. I was thinking on the same lines in blanching the spinach after a quick cook in the boiling water. Too many palak paneers I’ve seen have a greyish green colour after it’s done cooking.

Just incase you’re having a hard time finding paneer cheese similar to what’s used I used a regular cottage cheese in the rice after it was cooked before adding the spinach mix to it and used tofu for the block like texture and I chose one with omega 3s added and a 6 scale firmness. Didn’t have geee but I’m used to butter so I used REAL butter and you can make your own ghee if you want from that… another cheese option is queso Fresca which is a Spanish cheese and queso blanco is another.. I love the cheese flavor so I used a mozzarella but mozzarella cheese melts easy so you wanna add it cold to the dish or let it cool down before adding it.. another option is to cut up the cheese and eat it separately from the hot dish.. flavors will vary at times so you got to make it several times before knowing how you like it.. idk if this is a good idea but you can get a cheesy taste from nutritional yeast but idk if that will work well… I just know it’s the tangy salty sharp flavor it provides not the “cheese” flavor. As a few options for you.. hope this helps I’m trying it all kinds of ways because I’m not paying 6/7 bucks for a single serving of the frozen premade version… also feta cheese will change the dish it’s a different milk and can be over powering and it’s not the same..

I don't know why he refers to the cheese as cottage cheese. Paneer is very different from what most people view as cottage cheese. If you cant get paneer, I have heard a good substitute is halloumi cheese, which is widely available at middle eastern grocery stores.
