Excellent changes that will be the best kayak on the market today they are huge fish your catching have you made a video on the fishfinder sunscreen cover I would love to make one like yours
Ciao. Grazie.
Both the ProFish 400 and the Reload have great stability, the 400 is my favourite in close around the rocks but if you’re fishing further offshore the extra length and lift from the higher front make the Reload the better kayak if it’s a long paddle back in wind or chop. Hope that helps, cheers Lozza.
Good review, Laurie. Those changes are the exact things I don't like about my older model, especially the small hatch. The new bow design should be quieter running too, eh?
Great review. Just wondering whether the new profish 400 rides better than the old one in normal calm conditions say on a lake without waves or does the pronounced flare in the bow impede it?
Could you tell me if there is any brass inserts or fittings in between the Tackle pod area and the new oval hatch as I would like to fit a Railblaza Tracport 3? Cheers Graeme
Graeme, there are no brass inserts in that area, on my 400 I’ve bolted the trackport to the top of my tacklepod, I’ve seen others put starports infront of their feet’s and plug a trackport in. This option is probably the strongest but it’s a long reach compared to having the placement on the tacklepod lid.
Corey I prefer to use a cover, for me it’s about reducing weight and the impact of wind. It’s also easier when I’m using a floating measure board. Potential negative is fish juices flow out the scuppers (sharks 😂).
Would you say the new 400 is more stable than the GT ? ,the 400 is the only one with 10/10 stability rating , but no rating for the rest of the models. Also is it much faster than the GT. Can you stand on the new 400 ?
Brett, the 400 is faster and easier to paddle than the GT. I wouldn’t read to much into the stability ratings, both the GT and Espri are very stable on calm days but that changes with wind because of their higher profiles. In my view the 400 feels the most stable and it’s easy to stand up on. In order of stability I’d rate the 400 highest, followed by the Reload, GT then Espri.
@@yakfishfun8441 Thanks for the reply much appreciated , I can't get a reply from Viking site or Viking owners group my post won't get published, no admin activity, yes sounds great and confirms my thoughts already , I will eventually get a Bixby maybe K1 next year
Nice review, thank you for posting it, especially since Viking has not updated their web site with new photos.
Very envious of your big shed!
The best bit is it’s away from the house 😂

I haven’t spent enough time on the old 400 to comment but the new bow doesn’t impede it at all in flat conditions 👍
Looks good loz. May have to look at adding to the fleet
🤔 I’ve seen your shed full of toys, is there room 😂
@@yakfishfun8441 can always find room for more toys
JNice one! Just subscribed. Hey mate from where you got that batteries box for the transducer ? Cheers
I made the battery housing myself, if you watch the end of the “Surfs Up” vid you will see that in more detail 👍
@@yakfishfun8441 I meant the lithium battery you got from Australia or did you buy here in NZ?
Viking Kayaks sell them 👍
all right, thank you@@yakfishfun8441
Great review Loz.
Looks great. Did the price change much from the old model?
Looking at the Viking website, prices have lifted in the last week.

@@yakfishfun8441 Excellent, thanks for the info
Does the new 400 come with the lid with chopping board or is the Tackle pod the only option?
It comes with the lid and chopping board, the tackle pod is an additional extra 👍
@@yakfishfun8441 Thanks again Laurie
Nice place for the fish finder battery
Just trying to keep it dry 👍
Hi, what do you mean by it will save you a lot of time if you wire the transducer through the hull instead of the tackle pod? Thanks.
Nick if you watch the vid “You Dirty 🤬”, I cover that at the 11 minute mark 👍
Cheers Laurie
@yakfishfun8441 but this video is only 5 mins long 🤔
Two vids after this one, thumbnail has reefed on it 👍
Hey mate I just got the new 400 and the new tacklepod i got with it doesnt fit properly does yours sit properly and go over the lip front and back?
That’s strange, mine fits perfectly.
Is it the transducer that’s causing it not to fit snug?
i see you prefer the insulated chill bag as opposed to the chill pod. What's your thoughts on this mate ? I have been considering this option
Corey I prefer to use a cover, for me it’s about reducing weight and the impact of wind.

dont need it in the uk lol
Hey buddy- Could you make a video on the fish finder battery installation please
I’ve answered your question at the end of my latest vid, Surfs Up
Thank you, love your videos mate keep them coming
Wonder what a gt weighs?
GT should be similar to the 400, except the GT prefers a bit of weigh in the backend and from past experience performs better with a Chillpod.
