this race marked the 1st NASCAR race with CBS Sports new graphics that debuted around both the US Open, and the NFL's return to CBS Sports and used those graphics and debuted a slightly different scorebox between both this race and then The Daytona coverage a few months and kept the last one all the way until the end of their NASCAR coverage.
Gateway without lights (Which would be installed in 1999), and later that day the first ever nighttime prime time event at Daytona with the 40th Pepsi 400 (Which was supposed to be run on 7/4/98 but postponed due to the Florida Wildfires that year, horrible year for that state).
Matthew Kowal yep and weirdly CBS only showed the Busch race and sent Mike Joy there, while putting the much more prestigious Cup race on TNN and sending Eli Gold and the “B” team to Daytona
who would have thought jimmie johnson today would have six championships under his belt when he was like a nobody in the busch (then nationwide, now xfinity) series at that time!
jimmie johnson is not even that successful in nascar's 2nd division, he only has one win in this series, jeff gordon is the same way, he only had moderate success in this series but all his success, stardom, and fame came during his career at the cup series level
This was a ridiculously talented field, super competitive all the way through. Golden era of the Busch Series, phenomenal racing.

Joseph Bettano Gordon was good in Busch. He retired from it when Hendrick bought his Busch team.
