I like the extra features in the map starting at 1:01 as it helps point where exactly you are talking. I appreciate it and hope we see more in the future
Watch the noteworthy characters of Liu Bei's Yiling roster die or be wounded in action as Liu Bei's remaining army brings back to Yizhou their memories for the temples to inscribe memorials. That thumbnail now makes sense as Liu Bei sees the ghosts of his past as he trails hard in tears back to Baidi.
The day Wu manages to silence the reserved officers in Yiling, had Liu Bei decided have them forced/tag along, is also the day Cao Pi might invade Shu through Shangyong in a race, having mustered a force to deal with Wu.
Makes me wonder if Ma Liang survive in this campaign will he replace Ma Su in the northern campaign. Since Ma Liang is the most talented among of the five Ma brothers I think he would have done a better job in defending Jie ting.
I don't get how Lu Xun's forces could crush Liu Bei's forces with such ease. Feels like Shu's forces were totally unprepared, it doesn't speak well of them or their commanders.
In Rafe de Crespigny's book Generals of the South The Foundation And Early History Of The Three Kingdoms State Of Wu, he has a small part dedicated to ships and naval engagements, but it really leaves a lot unsaid, like how ships engaged each other. I remember you briefly mentioning ship combat before on a video, I don't remember which one, but do you have any plans on making a video on how the ships during the three kingdoms fought?
you shoot arrows at each other for the most part. Then crash into each other, board and fight melee much like how naval engagements worldwide went before cannons became a thing (honestly even after cannon it mainly replaced arrows and you still have boarding)
@@SeriousTrivia ahh okay i see. so bows/ crossbows played a big part in ship combat. Did armies have warships that were built for battle or did they retrofit merchant vessels? also with the crashing together, do you mean like a ramming action similar to greek triremes, or more like the grappling an enemy ship and pulling it close to your ship for boarding? how about flag ships, or something similar, were they any different from other combat ships?
they had special ships built for war. Chinese ships tend to be more platformed since we are mostly talking about river/lake combats rather than sea combat, so its more boxy and thus more about boarding rather than ramming.
So Liu Bei lost his best troops in terms of battle hardened experience. What happened to his elite White Feather Troops? Will we have a casualty count in the next video regarding men and equipment lost?
there is no records of White Feather Troops aside from one sentence regarding defensive deployment during Zhuge Liang's first northern expedition in 226. Thus there is no record their participation or lack of participation in this battle.
It was written that way in Romance, but that is not historically correct as they have him dying while Zhuge Liang was away on the Nanman Expedition when in fact, he had been dead for three years as he historically dies to Bu Zhi's troops on his way back to Shu.
"This is fine" meme when Liu Bei is sat in a forest fire
Ah yes the good old classic Wu fire attack
"Wu, this has been the nteenth time you've introduced us the fire attack plan in this age of chaos."

If there’s one thing the three kingdoms period taught me it’s… fire… fire will solve all my problems in life.
Much better end for Sun Huan than Liu Feng. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this info and the map
I now have an idea of how I wanna do my own Dynasty Warriors map for Yiling and Xiaoting.
So much losses its a wonder they ever recovered.
Liu Bei’s generals went out like badasses rip
This campaign really displayed Liu Bei’s flaws
Talk about watching your dreams go up in flames Liu Bei...
I feel like this campaign by Liu Bei is bound to fail no matter what even if he got Zhuge Liang or Zhao Yun with him.

Try fighting in a forest fire….
@@SeriousTrivia this reminds me of a capcom three kingdoms game where you could set the forest on fire while fighting either Li Dian or Xiahou Dun
@@SeriousTrivia the wu forces rather use the forest instead of open field as they just have to burn the camp by sneaking behind
Sucks that we won't ever get a proper legendary Lu Xun in 3 kingdoms TW, the fire mechanics are the most fun part of that game.
So long not see this channel

@@SeriousTrivia cool thanks man
So Liu Bei lost his best troops in terms of battle hardened experience.
What happened to his elite White Feather Troops?
Will we have a casualty count in the next video regarding men and equipment lost?
There is no accurate historical record of that. I don’t even think Liu Bei or Sun Quan knew that
@@SeriousTrivia Oh I see.
But what about his White Feather Troops?
there is no records of White Feather Troops aside from one sentence regarding defensive deployment during Zhuge Liang's first northern expedition in 226. Thus there is no record their participation or lack of participation in this battle.
I though Ma Liang was dead of sickness.

Was Fu Rong a capable officer ? He sound like a real badass.
only appearance in records is this battle, but definitely a badass way to go out
Hey Serious Trivia, out of curiosity did Guan Xing and Zhang Bao historically took part in the Battle of Yiling?
No neither did
What a shame I feel both would want revenge for Wu supposedly master minded both murders of there fathers.
well historically Zhang Bao died before Zhang Fei (illness) . . . and Guan Xing had just turned 20 (and will soon die not long after due to illness)
Where can I download these Koei Portrait characters?
there is plenty of Koei wiki where you can find all these character portraits
Yay !
