You could use the cut foam pieces as a rubber stamp. Probably one of the smaller dies so you wouldn't have such a hard time mounting it on something. You can stick it on a piece of cardboard. You are so clever!!
TYSM! A couple other gals have mentioned that fun thing to do! I was saying it reminds me of the potatoes we would "carve" to stamp with. LOL! I have a few foam stamps I actually paid money for! (: There was a fad for a minute of doing that, I can't even remember the brand names of the companies who delved into it. I only ever tried it a handful of times, but if we're going to cut it anyway...that would be a fun use for them!! (:
I ACCIDENTALLY found this out as I was working on a sea chest that has a amazing lock. This being a 3D project I wanted to build my lock up with black foam, no black so I used a dark blue took my SN Black alcohol marker colored the foam and ran it through not only was the emboss amazing the extra foam around the lock separated into very thin pieces that allowed me to make a BEAUTIFUL flower. Just thought I'd share this. Your east coast crafty friend, Rene'
Wow- That is a game changer. I have ran extra piece of card stock with me folder because I am still using the first folder as you are. It protects the die cut from the scars of our folder. It actually embossed the dies enough to be pretty. But your foam really highly embossed them dies.
Oh my gosh! I actually did this the other day! I had cut foam for a project for my daughter and I had the same thought. It totally embossed the paper. So cool!
Hey I wanted to tell you I decided to try n fix the marquee plastic folders. I found that if you drop them one at time in boiling water in an old pan they will get flat again! After they come out of the water I lay them to the side and lay something heavy on them till they cool off. Although I don’t leave each one for very long in water. Try it. Janie Collins
I have cut out & embossed foam to make a stamp. You can add tacky adhesive on the back side & mount on acryllic block. They work pretty good & you can re-use several times. The stamp works a bit like a shadow stamp, you can add echo elements to your card by using a foam stamp, & even if you have the outline stamp you stamp over the foam stamp like a layered look. Also I have a french fluer type die but no stamp & made a background paper using same darker or lighter ink & made lovely background swirls. I did a tone on tone type look using a leaf die & a butterfly die using the dyi foam stamp. Play with it & try a few scenarios. Cheap way to make stamps for kids too. Wash them in the sink let them dry & re-use. Oh and you can paint on them acryllic or water color & stamp in junk journals. Etc.
I remember doing that back in the day...especially with what they now call Bigz dies. So fun! (Or even with a potato, LOL, of course, that was free hand!) Thanks for sharing how you use them, great ideas!!
Yay! I can tell you're excited. I asked my husband "Am I lame bc I am this excited!!??" LOL! I was freaking out. (: I just feel now Marquise owners can get full use of their dies and I think that's so great!
You just hit a "game changer" here Vianney!! I'm gonna be attempting this for sure. The foam, like you mentioned, can be used as a dimensional for the back. WOW TY for attempting these new ways of crafting with what we have & to make them more beautiful without taking out the heavy die machines. Be safe & TYFS
Nice! Not something I need to do, but I've certainly cut foam with my dies before to get perfect layers of foam to pop them up. It's a great alternative for people who only have the Marquise though! Thanks for sharing.
I did cut up the mat to my cuttlebug but it was to thick to go thru. I then used a piece of foam but not with paper. Now I can go back and try it again! Your way! TYFS
I buy foam at Dollar Tree. It is very thin. You get 36 sheets in a bundle. I love my Marque die cutting machine. I love using embossing folders in my machine. To me it is magical.
Yes, I showed the DollarTree foam when I mentioned they didn't have any at my local one yesterday, It is thin, nice, and cheap! LOL!! Believe me, I would have used that if it were in stock. (: I hope you try this out!
Hi, when I don’t want to cut through the foam I use a thick piece of foam and one side of the folder and get the embossing without the DP cutting through the foam. It’s a thick piece of foam about the thickness of one side of the folder. Have always done it with my DP and now with the Marquise. After awhile it will break down but it works well. Then I can use the old foam to add dimension to die cuts.
Oh My Gosh, this is a game chanter. I love my Marquise…love it more now!!! Thanks for showing that we can easily emboss with the Marquise. I'm so thrilled.
Great tip V! If you put the foam on the other side (with no blade side of the die) cuz it will still have the thickness & it won't waste or cut the foam. Tfs! ❤😘 or just use the die cut piece of foam unread of dementioals to pop it up.
I have what they call a crease plate for some of my machines. I'm thinking it is thin enough to maybe try in place of the foam and see how it works out. Also you can sometimes find very thin cutting mats Similar to the dense fabric and paper cutting mats that people use with the roller blades also craft knives and even punch and hammer boards for some crafts. Anyway I have found super thin ones and have used successfully as magic mats in several machines and also thinner than those too. I'm thinking I'll cut down my older crease mat which is like a dense gasket like material always in black and see if the Marguise can handle it. Like you mention DO NOT force anything through the machine or any of the die cutting machines. I also found a super thin cutting plate material I have used with great success in the Marquise that does not warp nearly as bad as the folders. And I've cut the folders apart and use one side for the top and the stiffer acrylic new cutting but very thin board for the other side. YOU may need to tape these together to insure the dies stay in place. Your results with foam is wonderful though. I don't know if you can find thin foam board but wonder if you could if that too would give enough to get the embossed elements from these dies. I have one huge bone to pick with Diamond PRESS and it's HUGE. They are way to often out of stock with new folders and worse out of stock with the machines. I live in a very rural low populated area so no chance of picking one up used at yard sales or shops that sell used items here. But it's very annoying that the company who sells the machines never have them year round on hand. I mean it's the core of their business. I love their dies too. I've been working hard to find how to get the DP dies to run through my many other machines. Sizzix, Spellbinders, Gemni, and my newest Empress even. It's been a big challenge. I think I may have success with a new cutting mat that's sold as an off brand thick shim. I've got other priorities right now and haven't had time to get back to trying all these things. Hoping by mid June I'll carve out time to pull out 3-4 machines set up outside under covered patio and drag out all my supplies and numerous papers etc. to have a day or two exploring and making notes what works what does not. Embossing is my second love if not my first with this craft and these machines. You always make the most lovely videos and demonstrations and insight videos. Thanks and huge Paper Hugs to you.
I haven't, either...well, at least not for me to use! LOL!! Too bad I had to go get some more because Miranda hsd pretty much cut her sheets up to bits, LOL!!
Thank you so much for this amazing idea - It makes a huge difference! I’m finding that the newest Diamond Press is much harder on the folders than the smaller one - I think I’ll be replacing them more than before (which was almost never).
Happy to help! It's a much larger area with so much pressure, I figure that's why the folders get a little more beat up. They still cut, this one is going about two months strong with every day use! (: I hope you are able to try this trick for embossing.
Right??? I always felt so bad in video saying "we aren't going to emboss it" or "You can't emboss in the Marquise but use another machine for that." Ugh. I don't know why this took me two months to think of, really, the light bulb went off after I reviewed the shaker kit! I had totally forgot this cuts foam and I figured a little cardstock wouldn't hurt! It was definitely worth a try. Total game changer!!! (: TYSM!
TYSM! I don't know, like I said...I think if there was a rubber mat that went with this...it would probably just cut right through it (like the Gemini Go does). It's such a small, tight, area that I think the pressure just obliterates what goes in there. I hope that makes sense, but who knows!? (:
Yes, I have let them know that you guys have requested metal shims large enough to fit the full size of the folder...that way we can cut fabric, etc... We will see! (:
Thanks for this fantastic revelation. Many years ago I used to watch a young lady on UA-cam who designed scrapbook layouts and she always used foam to add dimension to her die cuts. Guess I had better buy some craft foam. :)
Yes, get some! Miranda usually has some that she cuts up in pieces, but of course, it was all gone! LOL!! I hope you have a safe outing if you choose to go pick some up!
I am not a fan of thick, kid, foam...but wow does it work for this! Even the foam flower came out pretty cute!! I hope you do try it out when you need some embossing done. (:
LOL!! I am! I did use a new folder recently to cut a larger die bc I wanted the paper to not get creased as can happen when using a really old folder...but today I used that AG die in there and it was great!
Must purchase foam now ... Talk about a game changer... Once you remove the cut portion of the foam you can use what's left to make shaker cards, instead of a circle or square it would be the peacock. If that makes sense.
LOL!! I asked my husband "What can I say to show my excitement!!!???" He recommended "game changer" and I went with it, it really is! I always felt bad in videos saying "you can't emboss on the Marquise..." and now you can!! (:
Right? I knew we could cut foam...I can't believe it took me a little while to think to layer it up with paper to mimic a rubber embossing mat!! Yay! TYSM!
Sounds great, I'll have to try that. The foam did smash down and hasn't yet puffed back up to pre squish thickness...do you think that will make it less effective the next time?
I'm wondering if you could put the foam under the die (layer foam, die up, paper), then you wouldn't have to cut each foam piece? I'l have to look and see if I have any foam and can try
I am telling you, I haven't ever done a "happy dance" but this just about got me there! LOL!! I was super excited, maybe a little too excited. What a great thing, though!!
TBH, I wouldn't try it bc if I did and later it messed up my machine...I would have lots of nice people super upset...including DP, I'm sure! LOL! People have told me they have used them in there but I won't be encouraging that. I do have a video of what you can put in there...it's under Marquise FAQ. (:
I really like this video good information. I was just wondering if a embossing folder would work? Again great videos because of your knowledge I buy a lot of CC items. Now i will start using your code. Thanks for all do. I have to go now you just posted a new video.😅😃😂
Embossing folders work, the machine comes with them! Some people say they put their cut and emboss folders through the machine, but I wouldn't recommend it.
How about putting the foam on the flat side of the die, so it won't cut the foam, and see if it embosses as well? Theoretically, you should be able to just use DP foam from the shaker kits?
Yes, but the foam from the shaker kits has all of the sticky, but you can. I would reserve that good shaker foam for a shaker and use this cheap stuff for the embossing. Let me know if you try it!
I forgot about the sticky. But I am curious if it will emboss if it is on the flat side of the die rather than the cutting edge. Thank you for the heads up on the sticky, because I was thinking of doing it right now. Love all your videos. You are amazing!
It cuts and you can emboss using embossing folders...however the folder type machines don't emboss using dies bc they aren't set up for that. Happy to help!
Ya!y Maybe I'm more excited about this than other people!! LOL! I know there are lots of people who only have this machine and I want them to know they can emboss, too!! (:
@@VianneyCreates The only fun foam that I could find at my house was the Foamies 40 Multi-Color Sticky Back Foam Sheets. So, I tried them - and they worked! I tried them with Local King Rubber Stamp dies. If I cut them with the foam side facing up, sometimes the release paper did not cut. I preferred cutting them with the release paper facing up so that I could use the sticky to immediately stick the foam piece to the cardstock. It adds great dimension. The only issue is that the foam's color shows. (www.amazon.com/Darice-1035-55-Foamies-Sticky-12-Inch/dp/B004LOHW6G?th=1)
Girl, I've been making apertures to help line up stamps and dies for about 10 years now! LOL! I have done it in many videos. I do mention that Lisa makes what she calls a "guiding window." It's an old trick that we used to use a lot when making Heartfelt Creations flowers. (:
After you cut the foam the first time, could you use the piece that was cut again? Cut you shape, put the already cut foam back in and send through. Would that emboss? I know it would then be a two step process, but if it worked the foam could be used with the die multiple times. Just thinking.
Someone had given a tip on how to use the foam again, but it was pretty squished when it came out of my machine. I don't know that you'd dgt the same pressure the next time, but it's definitely worth a try!
Will be trying this for sure !!! Awesome, thanks for sharing this, I just happen to have some foam from DT too. This is super cool 😎👍 Happy Memorial Day, 🇺🇸 🤩 🇺🇸 Maddy NY 🌈🌺🌻🌸🦋🎊
Thank you for your wonderful tip. That was a happy finding. I have foam tape somewheres that I purchased at Walmart couple months ago. My question to myself ....where is it.😁
@@barbarajackola8701 I'm glad so many stores are making special hours for seniors, that's a really great thing. I found this foam in the kid's craft area. (:
@@VianneyCreates Right? I feel like you could glue 2 thin pieces of foam together to make it work. Also keep those foam diecuts to add dimension to a project. When I make shakers, I just color the edges to match. I'm telling you, you gotta try shakers this way! A good example is watching Scrapdiva29 on YT she's the one who got me started on it. I also wanted to tell you that I've been adding packing tape to all my stamp and die sets. And then I emboss as well. Love it!

Put your foam on top of die on the non cutting side, embosses great and conserves on your foam.
Sounds great, I'll have to try that. The foam did smash down and hasn't yet puffed back up to pre squish thickness...do you think that will make it less effective the next time?
Hello 👋. I really enjoy watching your videos. Specially when your working with crafter Companion products.
Thank you so much!!
Cool idea never thought that you could to that. Thank you for the video
I didn't, either, and duh...it's so easy!! I hope the tip helps you!
Very cool! I don’t have a Marquis, but very cool.
On another note, why in the world did 15 people give you a down vote? What the heck?
I'm wondering if you could put the foam under the die (layer foam, die up, paper), then you wouldn't have to cut each foam piece? I'l have to look and see if I have any foam and can try
You can definitely try, I'm not sure. (:
Thanks for sharing your discovery, they look great...
Yeah, they look just as good as any other machine would do!! TYSM!!
Thanks. Was wondering how we could emboss. You are awesome!! 🤗
I am telling you, I haven't ever done a "happy dance" but this just about got me there! LOL!! I was super excited, maybe a little too excited. What a great thing, though!!
Maybe glitter and use it on card, I’m like you don’t want to waste anything!!! I just love using my diamond press,it’s so easy
@@jenniepaduapadua1659 I know, we love to use everything up!
Great video! Do you think the 3D embossing folders will work in the Marquis?
Thanks for all you do. I like how you explain . and I already watched the other video. .
That's so kind, thank you!!
@@daphnecampbelljinnette6808 Awww, thanks so much! (:
Your one smart cookie. But I bought this still in box and didn’t know it didn’t emboss
It cuts and you can emboss using embossing folders...however the folder type machines don't emboss using dies bc they aren't set up for that. Happy to help!
Wow this is good to know, thanks for sharing your new discovery
Ya!y Maybe I'm more excited about this than other people!! LOL! I know there are lots of people who only have this machine and I want them to know they can emboss, too!! (:
This is a great idea. I am going to try is right away.
Yay!!! Let me know how it goes.
@@toiwright4830 OMG, that's so great!! I'm glad you tried it and now have a new fun trick to use!! (:
Did you see the video where Lisa showed a hack for lining up the dies for stamped images?
Girl, I've been making apertures to help line up stamps and dies for about 10 years now! LOL! I have done it in many videos. I do mention that Lisa makes what she calls a "guiding window." It's an old trick that we used to use a lot when making Heartfelt Creations flowers. (:
@@VianneyCreates AH! I never did those so I got it from Lisa within the last few years.
Good to know! I have lots of foam. ~Janice
Unfortunately, I had to go pick up some foam but normally I think we all have some laying around!
Wow. Thanks for sharing. Gonna have to give it a try.
Yes!!! I am so excited about this discovery!! I hope people try it and can use their dies to their fullest!
Wow, this is Awesome, Gonna try this!! Thank You for all you do. :) xx
Yay!! I hope you do! Now people with the Marquise can get full use of their dies (if they want)!
You are Amazing! !🙆♀️
LOL!! You are! TYSM!
I do my manger dies out of white sticky foam on dark blue it is awesome
I loved watching this
TYSM!
(:
Will be trying this for sure !!! Awesome, thanks for sharing this, I just happen to have some foam
from DT too. This is super cool 😎👍
Happy Memorial Day, 🇺🇸 🤩 🇺🇸 Maddy NY 🌈🌺🌻🌸🦋🎊
So great, it works so well!! I hope you do try it next time you need to emboss with a die. (: TY, you, too!!
Love your find❣️
Yay!! TYSM! I am really excited about this!
That is exciting! Thank you for sharing.
Yay! I thought it was pretty nifty. Happy to help! TY!
Super great to know. I’m so glad I subscribed to your utube channel. Thanks.
Awww, that's so kind! TY!
Thanks for sharing. That's great.
I was super excited that it worked...and so well!! I hope people try it out! TYSM!
You could use the foam piece to 3d the piece
Yes, I mentioned that. What fun, there's always a use for it!! TY! (:
Look at the warranty for the Diamond Press Marquee
That's always a good thing to do!
I wonder if you can add embossing powder to the form?
The foam? I'm sure you could but be careful when you heat it!!!
You sure woke everyone up with this video lol
@@jenniepaduapadua1659 I know!! It's going off! (:
Thank you for your wonderful tip. That was a happy finding. I have foam tape somewheres that I purchased at Walmart couple months ago. My question to myself ....where is it.😁
LOL! I hope you find it. I am so glad this worked so well!! TY!
Great idea, seems to work well.
It really does!! TYSM!
I only go to Walmart oncev every 2 weeks on Tuesday morning at 6am when they open up just for seniors, when I go again I will check out the foam.
@@barbarajackola8701 I'm glad so many stores are making special hours for seniors, that's a really great thing. I found this foam in the kid's craft area. (:
A use for the foam you cut is to use it for Dimension for the injection you cut out.
Yes, I mentioned that in the video! lots of uses. TY!
Great discovery
Yay!! TYSM!
Love it 😍
TYSM!!
That a great idea. Tfs
So happy it worked...and so well!! Yay! TY!

Happy to help! Thank you so much!!
Cool! Thanks!
Happy to help!
Brilliant!
What fun!! Inexpensive way for this little lady to be used to her max!!
Love it!
cool, great tip!
Happy to help!!
Michels has sticky back sparkle foam
Cool!
Great video.
Thank you!! (:
Brilliant!👏👏👏👏👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Yay, yay, yay!!!! Happy to help!
Can you use spellbinders dies in this machine?
Of course. All thin metal dies are interchangeable within any machines that cut thin metal dies.
@@VianneyCreates Thank you so much for answering my question!!! Hugs to you!💐❤💐
Very nice edit ;)
Thanks 😁
Well, I’m glad you’re excess time on your hands benefits me😂
