Part 15: • Ken Shamrock on Vince ...
Part 1: • Ken Shamrock on Gettin...
    --------
In this clip, Ken Shamrock opened up about sustaining more injuries in the pro-wrestling ring as opposed to the time he spent in MMA. Shamrock said he's incentivized to end an MMA fight as early as possible, whereas the scripted nature of pro-wrestling required him to "give up his body." He noted that pro-wrestlers are so offended by their "sport" being called fake because of the amount of torture they put their bodies through to entertain the audience.

I would always tell people who say wrestling is fake to use the word scripted instead. The matches are pre determined as the fight itself is a show but the show happens to be a full contact sport where injuries occur daily. Professional wrestlers put their body's on the line for our entertainment every time they have a match so I give respect and I don't use the word fake.

IMO Jake's only tough fight he won was Tyron because Tyron is still somewhat young and not too far out of the game. That was a good KO..Askren can't punch and we all knew that..and Silva is at an age where he's just not going to go that hard. Why do so many people get it confused by the "wrestling is fake" comment. What people mean when they say that is: it's not a competitive sport like the UFC where the better wrestler wins. The matches are scripted. Nobody is dumb enough to claim (I hope) that a body slam was fake. They do however fake a lot of the punches to the face. They have to, because otherwise; every wrestler would have black eyes and a broken nose. But I'm sure every now and then, what was supposed to be a fake punch to the face, connects by accident. That's what people mean when they say wrestling is fake. We all know the body takes a beaten with the slams, tumbles, and collisions.

I helped build rings for wwe events and I was surprised that the rings are actual all wood there's no padding or anything

Ken had a major influence on me and my high school wrestling career growing up in the early 90's. I did one cage fight and almost broke the dudes neck when I shot in, double legged, lifted him up and dumped him on his head. That was in 99 and after that Kens influence wore off and i got into partying. The end

Was MMA big in your area in ‘99? I remember back then MMA/Cage fighting was on the cusp of superstardom. It was like that for a few years prior as well.
