- Late Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi was an Indian vocalist from Karnataka in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music.
Hindol is a Hindustani classical raga emerging from Kalyan thaat. It is an ancient raga associated with the spring season. The raga is to be sung or played on an instrument such as santoor during the first part of the day.
Bhimsen Joshi was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship in 1998, the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. Subsequently, he received the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 2009. He made a career in Hindustani classical music, devotional music, patriotic music and playback singing. Bhimsen Joshi was known for his powerful voice, amazing breath control, fine musical sensibility and unwavering grasp of the fundamentals. He died in 2011, aged 88, in Pune, Maharashtra. Joshi first performed live in 1941 at the age 19. His debut album, containing a few devotional songs in Marathi and Hindi, was released in 1942.

I broke my right hand-Ulna radius bones in bike skid on 23 -01-2023. The expert doctors operated it with plates on 24. So, along with the prescriptions, I am listening to Raagas -Anandabhairavi, Hindola, hindolam, abheri, bhairavi for the fast recovery.
Get well soon
Dear sir it is said this raag is beneficial for cardiac patients.
No one but no one comes close to pandit Bhimsen Joshi in classical music. The speed of his taans is unbelievable.
Patiala Gharana is better in taans IMO. i,e Bade Gulam Ali Khan, Bade Fateh Ali Khan.
Speed? You mean breath control... his taans aren't that fast. Albeit still pretty quick.

Real classical
It's not Hindola of karnatik sangeeta. It's malkauns of Hindustani style. He is a Hindustani singer. The info given is wrong.
This is indeed Hindol in Hindustani classical music tradition... Hindolam in the Karnataki tradition is a different raaga. This Hindol is actually an 'inverted' Malkauns... Which means both the raagas do follow the same notes in inverted manner... While in Malkauns all the notes except Sa and Ma (Ga, Dha and Ni) are komal, in Hindol all five notes are the same (Sa, Ga, Ma, Dha, Ni) but all are suddha except Ma, which is teevra...
The title says that it is Raag Hindol. And, it is true as well. This is Hindol of Hindustani music. The Hindolam raag of karnatic music is equivalent to Malkauns in Hindustani. On the other hand, Raag Hindol of hindustani music is equivalent to Sunada Vinodini in Karnatic music ( Devadideva composition of Mysore Vasudevachar is the most famous one and Dr. M.Balamuralikrishna had elaborated this many times in several concerts. Please listen to it).
So, everything about this upload is correct.
Its not malkaus its actually inverted malkaus everything is suddha and ma is tivra , where malkaus have suddha ma . And a raga called Hindol exists in hindustani music , and a raga called Hindolam also exist in karnataka music , both ragas sound a lot different.
So everything here is absolutely correct information
