I feel all of this to the core my husband was just laid off 3 weeks ago from a job he has been at for 20 years
It took me a few tries to get past the first few minutes of this video. It hit super close to home. While we have not technically been laid off, we (both hubs and me) got told on Monday that we will get a retention bonus if we stay the course while our jobs are transitioned to being outsourced....they expect it to be a 2 year process. Watching now to get some ideas.
Always roll your 401k into a new company 401k when you get a new job. Do not roll into an IRA. I made that mistake thinking it didn't matter. Now im want to do a megaback door Roth and you have to convert all IRAs first... meaning paying taxes. So now I'm stuck doing additional contributions to only a regular brokerage account until im ready to bite the bullet and pay taxes.
