Personally I don't really factor in where a writer is from, it's more the genre in so far as I don't want to get stuck in my "comfort zone" reading the same type of novel over and over.... I'm currently reading The Black Feathers by Rebecca Netley; definitely within my comfort zone and an easy read however next I'm considering reading Moby Dick which could be a tough read!
