Austin Tobin don't do that. Birds respond terribly to punishment and being alone will stress them out. What you should do is let the bird out of its cage in a room where there's nothing you don't want to be broken, you give the bird lots of things to destroy and chew in that room such as pine cones and toilet paper rolls. Also you would have to be there entertaining and talking to the bird. You can't punish a bird, it will end up becoming aggressive and start biting you because you punished it for trying to practice natural behaviours.
Also never scold a bird or yell at it. You wouldn't go off at a toddler or leave a toddler alone in a dark room ignoring its cries for comfort. A cockatoo is about as intelligent as a child. Don't punish them. No food or water even for a short time could kill your bird. Give the bird toys that are easy to pick up like the cups and other toys in the video. Basically what you said you'd do to the bird if it started making a mess is animal abuse
And that was less than 5 minutes of destruction xD Any time I daydream about having one full time, I come back to these sorts of videos to remind myself.

I think if you quite literally parrot him, by repeating the pattern that he sets whether it's a tap , or verbal cue, he will feel happy. He is obviously well bonded to you and knows he is loved and respected. But to have you as part of the pattern that he begins, I think, will MAKE his day. Parroting the parrot, dr.
