Metropolitan Andrey (2008)

Andrey Sheptytsky, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, faced many trials, primarily related to Hitler's and Stalin's repressions. However, for the hero, the first place has always been and remains only service to God. The film “Vladyka Andrey” tells about the life and work of an outstanding personality of Ukrainian history - Metropolitan of the UGCC Andrey Sheptytsky. A descendant of an old noble family, among whom were outstanding religious figures and generals, diplomats and politicians, Sheptytsky neglected the prospect of a brilliant secular or military career and chose the path of serving God and people.
The film was shot by Ukrainian film director Oles Yanchuk at the Oles-Film Studio in 2008 with the assistance of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), with the participation of the National Feature Film Studio. A. Dovzhenko. One of the few famous films financed by the state - the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine and the State Cinematography Service of Ukraine.
The all-Ukrainian premiere of the film took place on September 4, 2008.
The film's script was approved by the Vatican hierarchy. The episode where Sheptytsky talks with the bishop - a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church - takes place in Russia. However, this episode was filmed in Chernigov due to difficulties in organizing filming on Russian territory.

Мені був сон, і я чекав листа, у вісні прийшов митрополит Андрей з братом Климентієм, але в світському вбрані, у гарному будинку. І повз пройшли та закрили двері перед мною. На ранок лист прийшов з відмовою, але я вже знав про це.
Молитвами святих отців наших Господи Ісусе Христе Сину Божий помилуй нас грішних. Амінь.
