Gilchrist on Advocate Today to discuss the new season, why everyone is pulling for Bette and Tina, and the magic behind her decades-long on-screen chemistry with Jennifer Beals. Holloman also touches on the show’s onscreen extended family with Beals, Kate Moennig, Leisha Hailey, and Jordan Hull.
I am 75 years old and also shouted at the TV when Tina and Bette got back together. Words cannot express what they have meant to me over the years.

I can identify. I'm 82 and and still watch the L Word simultaneously with Gen Q. So glad B and T are together but so sad that Jennifer and Laurel have left the show. Unfortunate for long time viewers..

Laurel Holloman...you have always been my favorite. No one has stirred up as much emotion on television as you and Jennifer Beals on screen romance. Like...I don't think anyone can explain just how impactful you have been. It has forever changed me. It hurts because it is so emotional. Thank you for all you brought. I know Jennifer gets a lot of credit. But I believe without you it never would have been so successful. You are the best and thank you for your time Laurel. Thank you.

I am a 74 year old woman n I watch this show with my granddaughter. She now lives in Michigan n I live in Ohio. I tape the show so we can watch it together when she comes home. She is going to be soo happy that Tasha is back. That is her favorite character. Of course grams is Bette n Tina. Who Alyssa also likes very much. This show spans across the generations for women. Crosses the generation gap. Just live it.

Tina is the character , the only character that could possibly create what we see with Bette & Tina Is their magnetism, there eye contact. If they are not brought back in episode 5 I will be one very disappointed supportive fan.

Laurel is definitely needed on this show. She looks better here than on the recent episodes. Whoever does her makeup should be fired. Laurel is goregous with less makeup. But I think the new show is praising youth so it makes sense this would happen.

Tibette has put closure to TLW, a good way to give way to the new generation stories.
I’m a super fan of Laura, have watched all your public videos, interviews, podcasts and so on, watched the L word 1-6 and Q 1-3 over 20 times at least, the shows are amazing, the TiBette love is so real, I wouldn’t even imagined what it would be without TiBette and how TiBette would be without Laura, the love, the feeling and the attraction between them are so touching my heart, my favorite collection is the DVD of the L word, love you Laura ❤
Really loved the Tibette reunion and we needed to see that it’s possible to continue when love is there. You two ladies are very excellent actors and we love you so much. Would love to see so much more. But I guess that is it until later. Love you so much. Hope you will do more acting. ❤️❤️❤️

I think Tibette/Jen/Laurel is the heart of this series idea. You can tell by all the fan comments throughout these years when the first generation series ended. It was such a groundbreaking series, really focused on these 2 women, it is hard to match this now, even if they both got back together as characters.
I guess it is cool that this 2nd time remake has tried to focus on the younger generation, but the new generation lacks the magic of the characters in the first season. I find this remake too "politically correct", where some characters were obviously created to attract or portray other characters in the current diversity of the LGBT world.
But I think the L word was originally about LESBIAN WOMEN and focused on that mainly, and that was the key to its success.
About Rosie O'Donnell's character being a challenge to the Bette character, I find it hard to believe in real life, as someone like Tina would have probably chosen another partner more like Bette. No offense to Rosie O'Donnell.

I wonder about this two actors genuinely good in that series,when that two ladies have a husband how they became a lesbian in a national tv or a series,..because this two in the series couple are so much beautiful pairs of the entire planet
What an ass kissing bogus interview. People do feel deeply invested in the show, but virtually nobody is loving season three with the exception of the Bette/Tina reunion.
this is the worst season. poor writing. nothing is working. shane character never evolved, same of shane at 45 years old. Dani is still not good enough despite her efforts.
Some people don't change though so maybe it's not too far off reality. But I get it we want to see more as it's getting boring all the cheating. But, some people are really like that .
