I'm new to HTV (not Cricut, I've been working with vinyl for about a year now). I don't understand tacking. I understand the concept in relation to layering but, I think, you have to press the HTV long enough so the carrier sheet comes off, so what is the difference between tacking and actually pressing? Am I missing something?
Hi Holly, tacking is useful when you are layering HTV, because you can give the vinyl a short press - enough to remove the carrier sheet - and then apply a second layer of vinyl overlapping it. This way you can adhere your vinyl for the recommended press time in short increments as you layer, instead of overpressing each layer. Overpressed HTV can discolor, change texture and/or not adhere to your base fabric.
