I remember during 9/11, the rescue dogs that got depressed helping find survivors were helped. During that time, live humans were "buried" in the rubbel for those dogs to find to help them in finding live people to help them feel better. I remember the news back in 2001 showing this.
I adopted my oldest cat simply because she probably would have been put down. She was a total asshole at the shelter I worked at and would attack anyone who tried to handle her. 5 years later she won't leave me alone, especially in the winter.
Our 3 cats were probably gonna get put down. So, we look them in. They're our kids now😂 twin sisters are 11, little boy is 10. Thank you for what you do!
Too many animals that are overlooked because of the way they act in the shelter. It saddens me. I was almost 13 (now 27) when I met the oldest of my 3 cats. She was terrified of everything and would have been put down. there was a week between first seeing her to adopting her. Her roommate was already gone. It took a few months for her to start exploring and trusting my mom, but she has always been by my side since I lost my childhood cat 8 years ago.
I heard the 911 dogs were depressed because they were trained to find live people and they found so few, causing the depression. Their handlers had to stage fake rescues of live people to try to counter the depression. That's even sadder. 😥
It's sad but true. However, the finding of live people "game" actually made a difference. It cheered the dogs up and energised them to continue searching. The handlers learned a lot about the emotions of their dogs from that and they now know to include a lot of positive results in-between shifts (obviously not planting evidence against anyone!).
The fact about cats broke my heart :( I have a few and have saved, hand raised, and rehomed many and to think so many still are euthanized daily was so dam sad. They are all unique in personalities but so many people think they're antisocial and other stereotypes that are completely untrue. They can love a human just as much as a dog can and some even more so. Please help stop the stereotyping and spread the word about just how sweet and loving cats can be! Every dog and cat deserves a loving home! ♥ They didn't ask to be tamed and bonded to humans or reliant on us, we made them that way or allowed them to become that way and it is all humans' responsibility to love and care for as many as we can. After all with great intelligence and power comes great responsibility making us responsible for taking care of Earth and all her incredible animals, not just ourselves or the animals we care about, but All of them!!!♥
Also ignoring the fact that mute swans, (the Swan shown) do not mate for life, if a mute swan looses it's partner it will replace them, unlike a Black Swan who will remain 'loyal' to the lost partner. I do stress however that there will always be exceptions to prove the rule
Unless I’m wrong, defibrillators don’t restart the heart, they shock the heart back into the correct rhythm. The paramedics will continue CPR when they arrive. They just might do it better than the average Joe. I was saved by CPR and I know quite a few people who have been! Keep doing CPR!
95% correct. It actually stops the heart so that it can restart and regain a normal rhythm. Has 0 chance of "starting" a stopped heart. Thanks Dr. Mike!
Watched this video, even when I suffer from Clinic Depression, and yes, all the parts concerning animals made me incredible sad, beyond sad... I have cats, who I love to pieces, and now wish to run to the next shelter and adopt more.. instead I support several shelters in years! Animal testing is so wrong! Some of my fav subjects are Biology and Chemistry, and I'd love to become a Biochemist! When I learnt about all the animal testing (back in late 70s/early 80s) I strictly abandoned the profession -40 years, and nothing changed in the industry! Someone willing to cheer me up now??!
I cried when I heard this on the news and wasn't that the same rover who said something like I am dying goodbye. I also heard that the handlers would hide in the rubble so that the dogs could find someone alive. The facts about the cats and begals tore my heart. Not to be callus but aren't these cows killed for human consumption anyway ? It is better to use all of an animal or as much as you can
Funny thing is I've seen it done wrong every single time in TV and movies. Every time you take a break from chest compressions, you're supposed to measure two fingers from the bottom of the breastbone before we continuing compressions
1:01 But I'm sorry, Mike, "Nobody told us" is a lie when it comes to caps on ballpoint pens. I'm 32 and adults were telling us about this hazard since I was about 10. So no, this one is wrong.
To go along with the scientists who killed the world's oldest animal. A forestry grad student accidently killed the oldest living tree. He was trying to get the age of a bristle cone pine and the core broke off, so in the act of trying to retrieve the core in order to count the rings he ended up cutting it down.
the most depressing fact i know: one in every two people develops cancer in their lifetime. in other words you can be in the room as any other person and think: "its either you, me or both of us."
Wrong Mr. Facts man the hole in the cover of a ballpoint pen has nothing to do with choking hazards, but more of the function of the pen allowing airflow and making the pen work
If u ever come to Dublin Mike I want to show u The Aran Sweater shop near Grafton Street. All of their clothes are made out of sheep's wool and you'd look great in your new Irish wooly sweater and ceap! 😉
Good day is list 25ers, and good day Mike and crew. I know I've posted that I love your videos. 😅 Every video there's at least one thing that teaches me something new. And the golden life is to learn something new everyday. So you help me accomplish this goal weekly if not more than once a week. Favorite subjects are unexplained mysteries you guys are awesome at. Science facts that blow your mind, everything about it rocks. Put my favorite subject is space. Your guys's videos on space the planets. Mind blown. I know a requested it a couple of times. And I've yet to see one. Can we please have a list 25 video. Of your favorite 25 images from James Webb. Or maybe even list 25 Exo planets. List 25. Biggest stars in the sky and where they are in the skies location to view them that would be a great video!!! Thank you everybody give this comment a thumbs up if you like it. Who knows maybe Mike and list 25 will actually read it. And make one of the videos suggested. Until then this is draven requesting videos from list 25.
i know about this hideous crap, but i can’t bear hearing about it all at once. as far as the children go, how much radiation was used, what happened to them? - and we still do this today within medically safe parameters e.g. Xrays!!
It sounds tragic and heartless for a grizzly bear to abandon its young. But we have to remember that we human beings kill or unborn children.😢 And we're supposed to be the intelligent species.
Not quite depressing but more scary. I have had to do CPR on someone close to me. Thankfully it has only happened once but.. yeah. They are a live and well currently.
I know I heard about this it made me think of Oliver twist I did a adopt a cat from the animal shelter and then in the dying a few months later that I had to put it down because it said it had an intestinal worms and freaking covid is a pretty black boy cat name pineapple 😭 the two now I found them on the street I'll be 2 years old
The female cassowary is the worst mother in the animal kingdom she finds a mate then lays an egg then leaves never seeing her chick again leaving the father to lay on the egg until the chick is born then raises the chick by himself
I could never understand animal testing done today. These companies are loaded. Why not offer money to people to be tested on. Shit, with this economy, I'd get over my fear of needles for a few extra $1k a month for bills. And if i die, I guess it wasn't meant to be😂
Maybet the swan died bcuz it was left to watch the chick without the other being able to gather food for them? But heartbreak is a much more romanticized story i guess
Slavery is very much alive today in America. We’re called Taxpayers. We are forced to work to support those who are too lazy to work and receive Government Assistance.
What state do you live in? In mine, you can’t receive any benefits if you’re not working, unless the state has determined you to be “medically frail” (such as myself)
Bear in mind that being unemployed does not mean you're "too lazy", they are usually _unable_ to find work. Being unemployed is depressing enough as it is, especially long-term, but attitudes like yours just make it worse. Stop generalizing!
@@y_fam_goeglyd There’s a Huge Difference between being unemployed and being too lazy to look for work. Just like there’s a Huge difference between being disabled and not being able to work and those who would rather lay around all day and plop out bastard after bastard after bastard just to get a free ride off of the Slaves who have enough self worth and respect to work for a living. When I was in school I had a classmate whose grandparents were from Mexico and came here Illegally. They were married 26 years and had 25 children. She died while giving birth to their 25th child. Because they were married and their first child was born in America neither one of them worked and lived on Welfare, forcing Americans into Slavery just to support them. Each of the 10 Million Illegal Invaders that Communist Biden has let into America, each one of them get $300 per month just in food stamps and if they live in the Sanctuary City of NY, they each get $10K per month on a credit card to spend on things that they want, while living in 5 star hotels that do their laundry and clean their rooms and they don’t have to pay anything. And since those hotels are full they live in the schools so that American children cannot go to school to get their education.

I might be a fringe case, but I’m “morbidly obese” despite suffering from long-term food insecurity, and having ‘at most’ two small meals a day
