Youve obviously never been a captain in your life, let alone in the Bering Sea. A boat like that doesn't just spin around and every wave you take usually puts you further away from the direction you want to be (into the waves).
You are wrong captain hero. The timing meaning that particular huge wave. He knew he'd take waves on his side, he just didn't think that large.
How did he end up so close to shore? Just curious?

Multiple captains have talked about this. You have to commit fully to entering and you cannot turn around. Multiple boats have littered that inlet due to the same mistake. One of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched all the seasons from the pilot to the new season dropping in June…
I reckon that’s got to be one of the most terrifying experiences one could have!

Went to buy a crab leg a few months ago. Cost like $25. Didn't buy. Then I saw show and same thing. Those guys taking huge a risks. Went back and bought 2. 🦀
Bill is one of the only captains I wouldn't want to work with, I've seen him put his crew through some tough situations and this one here takes the cake.
I really like Wild Bill, seems like a great guy. I hope he and his son are doing well. Life is far to short. I miss mine horribly

Fished the north Sea, and north Atlantic, south of iceland..for a few years in my younger days...been in high seas 🌊 ...its not fun..!

Why keep switching from the view where you can see everything to the one inside the ship where you see nothing? I get that it demonstrates the chaos and panic inside the ship, but ONCE was enough to give me that feeling!

I have watched this show for years and have always wondered, why don’t they wear the safety suits during times like this? If anything happens that’s a step already toward keeping them alive 🤷🏻♀️
I believe this may be a non capsizing boat.
The fact that this experienced Captain put his boat and crew in that position speaks volumes to me! If you watched the whole episode this was easily avoidable!!!
I don't understand why he was sideways against incoming surf like that unless im missing something he should have been straight into the waves , never liked bill but glad nothing worse happened heart has to be in your throat!!

The bow turned into the wave just barely enough to keep the ship from getting hit completely broadside. Wave hits just like a Mila second sooner it would've capsized the ship.
