Talwar (Sword) Dance
“Talwar Dance” is a traditional dance of the “Bhil” tribes living in Panchmahal, Mahisagar and
Dahod districts in the central part of the state. Men and women dressed in their traditional
attire dances with traditional instruments. In this dance, men dance with swords in their hands
and this dance is called “Talwar Dance”. In this dance, the artists display a symbolic cultural
expression of their ancient saga of bravery by performing with distinctive vigor, passion, play
fencing with up to 7 different chalas(steps). Which is the specialty of this dance. This dance
is performed on all auspicious occasions including weddings, social, cultural events, fairs.
