Casuals really define footwork and movement as running😂, Ortiz was moving with a purpose and every now and then he would pivot around Teo and throw a combo, Teo also was not catching him at all (maybe one clean shot per round) all I can say is that the judging criteria which is Defense, Ring General Ship, Effective Aggression & I know for a fact that Jamaine did better in the defense and ring generalship category.
I completely agree, Ortiz boxed circles around him and when Teo would invite him to engage by backing up, Ortiz went at him and got the better of him in each exchange. No he wasn't. There were whole 30 minute spans across the entire fight where he was just moving and pivoting not setting anything up, and most of the time it wasnt anything purposefull. This isnt fencing, and he wont win a title like that. Lara learned that eventually and hes been a way more successful and entertaining fighter, even floyd who was criticized for "running" sat on punches and landed MEANINGFUL scoring shots.
This is advice to fighters your never going to win a decision if your the B side, always train for the Knockout, even if you win all 12 rounds the judges will give the fight to the A side trust me,

Ortiz did not execute his game plan correctly… moving around the ring like the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard is great but unlike Leonard he failed to engage consistently throughout the fight.. on my card he only won two rounds… Teofimo was always on the front foot although he found it difficult to cut the ring effectively…. overall below par boxing match… styles makes fight and this was definitely a terrible match up…. The undercard fights was far more compelling….

Back in the day, you didn't have fighters not running like that. They put themselves to the challenge and went toe to toe, even for a few rounds. This guy didn't do it for not even one round.
The judges stole that fight from Ortiz. 117 to 111 was ridiculous. Should NEVER judge another fight. Was watching another fight in his celular phone.

Thank you judges for PUNISHING the runner who refuses to fight, who gives boxing a black eye and lose fans to MMA. In fact, the referee should be giving warnings for not mixing it up, then taking points away. This is pro boxing, not amateur, where you count the number of punches landed. If you land ten jabs and your opponent lands one solid right, judges should score the more effective punches.
Competitive fight, but you dont win a fight by outlanding your opponent with 2 shots and running the entire fight. Had he been a bit more offensive, it would have been in the bag for ortiz

I hate when people complain about fighters running. He had a good game plan, which was do not get away from the jab and stay a moving target and counter off the back foot. The sweet science is hit and don’t get hit. I think if he decided to push Teo back for 2 or 3 rounds and then go back to the game plan he might have won. The goal of a boxer is to win, not entertain fans. That being said, I still think that Teo did enough to win
