While it’s true that Jesus is the physical key which unlocked the figurative “pearly gates” of Heaven granting access to all saintly souls; Mary would not have been damned had she passed on prior to Christs’ death. Remember that for 3 days leading up to the Resurrection, Jesus was comforting souls in the hell of Abraham.
Mary is the Immaculate Conception, which means that she was borne free from any stain of original sin. You can ask saints in Heaven to pray for you. There’s not a single thing wrong with that. Souls in Heaven pray *24/7* for all of eternity because they are perfectly conformed to God’s Will and want to see others achieve that and can intercede in our lives here on Earth.

And we cannot say that Elizabeth was wrong when she said these words because we remember that we have seen in verse 40 that Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Years ago, I studied 3 forms of martial arts: taekwondo, bushidokan, and kung fu/tai chi. Bushidokan was the best at self defense. In the tai chi class, I felt so creeped out. I didn't understand the whole "chi" thing. One day the instructor had us gather in a circle and he started "passing chi" to the one next to him, like an imaginary ball. 😬 I found the whole thing so stupid, but concerning. So I began praying unceasingly. One of the teacher's most ardent followers was to my left. When it was my turn, I prayed and passed the Holy Spirit to him. After class, he approached me and exclaimed "you have some strong chi!" That was the Holy Spirit. I don't get into weird things, but I was sadly ignorant of what the whole mess was. We MUST educate ourselves. My parish sadly offers "centering prayer," and I messaged our new pastor to please have it stopped. His reply was not pretty. But I saw the damage that centering prayer and eastern thought has done to an entire city--including infecting a Catholic Church there! (its bulletin referred to the Holy Rosary as "a peaceful, centering prayer.") BE AWARE AND EDUCATE YOURSELVES!

There's actually nothing demonic about Harry Potter. I read the whole series and I am still a devout Catholic. In fact, Harry Potter strengthened my faith because it has Christian messages in it and it teaches children the difference between right and wrong, good and evil

In Harry Potter they practice sorcery. That's pretty obvious, but to those who have become lukewarm in the faith, it seems harmless. Stop making compromises with the world, and instead of watching movies, read the bible or pray your rosary. This is what happens when we are not watchful and diligent. Most movies made in Hollywood are useless and in fact cause more harm to the soul. But imagine how much you can do for your soul and your salvation in those two and a half hours. You could read scripture, do spiritual reading, pray the rosary, or take a good nap, I don't know. Not saying all movies are bad, but generally speaking they are worthless to the one seeking holiness. It is the same with secular music. People often say they just watch secula movies or listen to secula music to relax or for entertainment, but considering the sin filled content of these secula media, we should ask ourselves what kind of Christians are we if we find sin relaxing or entertaining.

Well said. My younger sister's husband who has many sisters, one of the youngest ones has been getting into it. Her husband is kinda cautious and I worry for my younger sister with her two kids since I know how the evil one loves to target children. I am asking St. Michael and Our Blessed Mother to protect my sister and her family including the sister who is getting into it that she will not only know that anything with the occult isn't good but that she will be free of it.

In my tradional Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it mentions "worship" of Mary. A lot of the text in the book is old English. I wonder if old English worship meant something different than the vernacular we use today?
The word "worship" was used for veneration too, like for angels sent by the Lord. Needless to say, now it's reserved for adoration, reserved only for God.

I am curious about the same thing. How is it not a sin of vain observance to constantly bless things, wear medallion and scapulars, as if Christ isn’t already King and all powerful? I think it’s an insult to God to constantly fear things like Harry Potter.

Correct reference is Psalm 96:5, not 95:5. And the wording in most translations is "All the gods of the gentiles are idols", not "demons".
He was probably referring to the Catholic version of the bible which doesn't split up Psalm 9 into Psalms 9 and 10, and it consequently messes with all subsequent psalms after that fact.

TheTraditionalAltarBoy There is a man here on UA-cam by the name of Zachary King. He was a high priest of the church of satan but has subsequently left this and has converted to Catholicism. In an interview with a priest (which you can find on UA-cam) he admits that a decent portion of the spells listed or mentioned within the Harry Potter novels are actually true spells. He says that the author took many spells and influences from actual witchcraft manuels when writing the books. If you are interested, you can look into it, I will not say for certain whether this is all true or not, but he does indeed provide quite a convincing (and fearsome) argument.

Have you read the books? All the spells are simply Latin phrases. Nothing extraordinary about them. The magic talked about in the HP books is as "toxic" or "demonic" as that in Tolkien's -- that is, not at all. It is nothing but a lovely series about the journey of three friends who overcome their fears and divisions in order to battle evil together.

Martin Jowsey I read all the books several times as a kid and in my early 20s . I have no doubt the hooks are insidious, evil, and sell a consequentialist worldview, I haven’t touched a book in years now, by the grace of God. You know where it really gets dark is in the fourth book when Wormtail helps Voldemort return. Evil sh*t we as adults have no business reading. Read actual spiritual reading.

As far as I'm concerned no child should have anything to do with the books. We were all once young and our imaginations were wild and strong. Think of how much influence these books would have over such a pure mind, and how easily it would lead to seeking out more things like it. HP is a gateway, and a very large and strong one. It pulls in the minds of the young who are in awe of the world it gives them, and later the child will want more because it is so enticing. They will want more of the powers, they will enact the spells with sticks, pretend the potions are real, pretend to fly on brooms just like in the books/movies. Don't call this a slippery slope either, I once played pretend with a wild and influanceable imagination, and I know how it would have effected me if I had read it as a preteen. Don't lie to yourself, you would have been enticed by it, even more as a child than as an adult.
As an adult with a formed mind there is less harm, it is mainly the children and young adults that should not be exposed. But even as an adult these books offer nothing of intellectual value. They are like junk food for the brain; offering nothing but empty calories that make you feel full with no nutritional value.
Do as you want when you are older, but do not suggest, introduce, or encourage the younger generation to read/listen/watch this trash.
I have listened to them, I understand their draw and enjoyment. But I also recognize the danger.
It would probably help your case if you could cite specific examples from the Harry Potter novels and movies instead of just speaking in broad terms. People can come back at you with these following points:
-An overarching theme in Harry Potter is that of sacrificial love.
-A Bible verse is on the grave of Harry's parents.
-Manipulating ones free will is illegal in Harry Potter.
-Harry fighting the Basilisk with a sword is inspired by the story of St. George fighting a dragon.
-If the mere use of magic is the problem, then we should also have a problem with Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the stories of King Arthur and his knights.
-Divination is portrayed as a worthless discipline at the school.

Isn't there a Christian "laying on of hands" healing practice? It sounds much like Reiki except one is invoking the Holy Spirit instead of the demonic. In other words, is Christian reiki okay if you do it to yourself?
Reiki is just healing from traumas, so no matter what it is ok. But as this is ur belief, then yes it is ok for you to practice Christian reiki

I used to read the Harry Potter books and have since seen how terrible they are and have ripped them up and thrown them away. My question is about Twilight. I haven’t read them in awhile and I know they are terrible literature, but are they safe to read?
I too was caught up in Twilight when I was younger. Yes...it's wrong and evil for sooo many reasons. I tried to see the good in it but once married to an amazing catholic man and listening to Father Ripperger [ exorcist] boy did it wake me up.

Type in Father Ripperger and Twilight. It should take you to his talk. I can't remember which one it was. But honestly, all his talks are good and worth listening to .
Plus remember, you went into this innocently. You know now and are trying to avoid such things. I can't stress the sacraments enough. Sounds like God is helping for sure and Our Lady. I use to do Yogs too and was convinced that christsn yoga was ok ...yeah.... don't fall into that trap. Especially with doctors.
Twilight for me was seeing the good they did and the pro life message. I was blinded by the fact that everything was anti God. Even atheists do good right? Same with Harry Potter
I totally got suckered in to that. More the movie's for me. But still soooo against God and His Church. Twilight also huge in fantasizing unrealistic ideas that keep our focus on the ultimate goal which is Christ and getting to heaven. That death is bad and the world is better. Lots of sensuality too. A great book we'd with catholic symbolism is in fact Lord of Rings and The Hobbit by Tolkien. He was a devout Catholic and his stories reflect and honor the Church teaching. Mark Williams Basically, in the Middle Earth and Narnia worlds magic is never sought, at least not as a good in itself. The One Ring written by Tolkien was a means to an end for those who sought it. The rest of magic used was more accidental and just part of the world in a non invasive, natural way. In Narnia, magic in an evil sense is a form of control and power, and in a good sense a simplistic term for grace. Both have quite different premises on magic than the Harry Potter books.

Unless I did not hear correctly, for which I will apologize in advance, or you made a mistake in quoting Question 103 of the Summa, in which St Thomas discusses the governance of things, the Summa in no way disparages specifically the Seder, or even tangentially. That is fully your misinterpretation. Please re-explain. The Seder meal does not fall into either of the two categories of wrong worship to which you refer. No Catholic celebrating the Seder ever considers it as a formal part of Catholic worship, but instead a part of the tradition out of which Christ arose. Your interpretation is a vast misrepresentation, similar to that of those who misportray Catholics as worshipping Mary.

There is nothing innately sinful about proper exercise. The human body was made by God and it is good.
While "yoga" as a religious exercise may be sinful, and might draw people into worshipping devils, the poses themselves are not. For example, we have all done "push-ups". Anyone who played football did push-ups for for strength, and the whole team did them in unison. They were not offered up to worship false gods. There is nothing sinful about push-ups per se.
But there is a yoga pose called "Chaturanga" which is what we would call a "push-up". Does the fact that some people worship false gods with that pose make the push-up sinful for the person who is just doing push-ups at football practice? Of course not.
And what about laying flat on your back and breathing? That is also a yoga pose called "shavasana".
How about laying on your back and holding your feet? That is "ananda balasana".
I could go on and on. There is no position or pose of the human body that is innately sinful. BUT I do not say that we should practice "yoga".
It is said that the pagans worshiped trees, but the "Christmas Tree" is not sinful. We decorate trees to celebrate the birth of Christ. Some pagan practices involve using eggs, but the Christians gave each other eggs at the end of Lent because Christians used to fast from eating eggs during Lent.
My point is that there are many parts of God's creation that can be used to worship the devil, but that does not make those things sinful of themselves.
I propose that any physical exercise of a pagan origin, like yoga, should be done without any reference to false gods, and without using any names of pagan deities. If you are truly concerned, then perhaps you can re-name any pose after a saint, or in reference to the life of Christ. You can also make sure that the practice is done in the presence of holy objects, like a crucifix, or a statue of the Blessed Mother.
I do stretches for my back which are derived from yoga. But when I do them I listen to "Sensus Fidelum" and I learn about the Catholic faith. It could be said that I am doing yoga stretches, but I have no intention of worshiping false gods. I don't have any pagan idols in my house.
There is a Catholic Church near my house that has a yoga teacher teach classes once a week. My brother and I stopped by for a class, thinking that the teacher would be "Christianizing" the yoga practice. But she did not. She went on and on, preaching all of her false new-age beliefs. So my brother and I never went back.
I truly believe that there would be nothing wrong with teaching a "Catholic" yoga class, as long as there was nothing ecumenical about it; i.e. there should be no reference to false gods or pagan beliefs. The stretches themselves are very healthy and beneficial. The human body was made by God and it is good.
As a Roman Catholic from India, I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. I practiced yoga when I was twelve years old, and our instructor (who was a Hindu) told us that when doing yoga, a Catholic could picture our Lord or our Lady. The instructor probably pictured his false pagan gods. But the point being that yoga, in itself, has many health benefits, to which many faithful Catholics in India have testified.
I, personally, do not practice it, but I do not see an issue with it. I think that the word "yoga" has strong connections with hinduism (which worships many devils, since the gods of the pagans are all devils), which is why it has a bad connotation with western Catholics. Once again, I think there is nothing wrong with yoga in itself. But sadly, there are some Indians who incorporate it into the liturgy. Now that is utter nonsense. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is no place for any of that.
I'm lucky to be in the U.S., where I have good access to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, and many venerable Eastern Rites. Please pray that Indian Bishops promote the Tridentine Mass.

I went to a tai chi exercise today. I went because I have Parkinson's and need exercise. I have been getting worse and am worried that I will be immobile shortly. I can't see why as a catholoc that I should not attend these meetings. All we do is do slow moving exercise that is good for me. I had annoitmment for the such four times and went to a healing mass were I held a piece of the cross that Jesus was nailed to, and wa prayed over by two other people. I was hoping for a cure but nothing happened. I still have Parkinson's. I can't see why I can't do chi if it helps me. I. Have a strong background in catholosim and will not be swayed by anyone. Besides the church is no longer what it used to be. The music stinks and you get vpcommunion in the hand . Also you don't kneel to recieeve our Lord. I do not agree with sort of thing, but do I matter ? Where is the church going?

You might want to revisit your information on Tai Chi. What you shared is very misleading and does not even mention the martial aspect from which it derived. As a Tai Chi player and devout Catholic I have never experienced opening myself up to demonic influences. It must be all those Rosaries I say while practicing my movements. Either way, revisit this and get some solid info regarding this beautiful art.

Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father but by me. I have talked to people on this site who rely on a church that can never save them the true church are the redeemed and have no power to save only Jesus saves they know not the Lord of glory. The Jewish faith of today bears little resemblance to the faith of 2000 years ago. For starters: there is and can no longer be a legitimate Jewish priesthood in the line of Aaron since the destruction of the temple in 70 AD by Emperor Titus. The genealogies were lost to time, and now there isn't a jew on Earth who can conclusively prove they are a Cohen in the line of Aaron.

We don't worship saints, we ask them to pray for us. It would be like asking your mother or a friend to pray for you, except the saints are face-to-face with God.
