Both of them have admitted on several occasions how honored they were to be part of the show and both left the show because the shooting schedule was becoming too tiring and they wanted to leave while they were ahead so they could explore new acting avenues.
Of course an actor of Peter Capaldi's long career, experience and many wide-ranging roles, does not want to be known only for one of them, even if it is Dr Who. It'would be ridiculous to think otherwise.
because it means that he cannot do better after that if his best is in doctor who. it's like you don't want your best part of your life is in high school while you still have all of time and space in front of you.
It's fair enough for Capaldi to say that he hopes to go on to other roles. He is a superlative, incredible actor. He gave us the best Doctor since Tom Baker. Matt Smith will be still signing autographs at conventions when he's 60.
Honestly don't understand why Moffat is so hated by some people. It's one thing to disagree with the direction he's taken Doctor Who, but to deny the man has an incredible amount of passion and dedication to the character and the show for so much of his life is an injustice.

I believe that series 10 was Peter Capaldi's absolute best. The best season of Doctor Who in years. I love Bill, Nardole has proven to be one of my favorite characters in Doctor Who, and Michelle Gomez is always delightfully evil on the show. The writing was really good, and the characters were incredible.
Gatiss has pulled off some crazy disguises in Taboo,GOT,Sherlock and of course this show. And he can fuckin write well too. Some humans just make me hopeless.
when He was called DR WHO in the war machines, it was a character misunderstanding what the DR says the only story giving the DRs real name was the Armageddon factor where someone who studied to be a time lord with him asks why he is no longer called feeta sigma
I hope Bill stays I think it would be interesting to see how the friendship between the two of them involves AND they wouldn't have to introduce a new companion, which means they can concentrate on the fact that we have a female doctor. (Yesss) But maybe I'm the only one who thinks that way !! Hahah

That would be a complete mess there. They probably won't have any conventions before series 11. And there's no reasone why would she be there. This is tribute to both Moffat's and Capaldi's eras. It would be really disrespectful to having her there. I'm not saying I hate Jodie, I'll love her. But it would be awful to have her especially with the fact that no one on this panel has anything to do with her.

Despite this has been (just a personal opinion) a not very bright season, this panel is amazing. Peter Capaldi reachs the top of his game in episode one, and over this last season he gave a terrific performance. his doctor is less kinetic and more reflexive, wise and sometimes dark, but always a funny doctor. Bill Potts prove she was one of the best companions ever, its such a crime only last one season. What can be said about Matt Lucas? hes a comedy genius, siding the doctor with a stern/nerdy humor he plays a brilliant complement to Capaldi, always lightning the plot gaps, always in the perfect measure. I regret to say this was a low season for Missy, she was blurred for the "temptation of the good" making her dull and tuning down the humor. Nevertheless Michelle Gomez is outstanding. Did a great job. and c'mon for a panel shes also a blast. Finally Mark Gatiss is always funny in comicon. mostly i dont like his stories, but apreciate the man. Beautiful panel.
Gino i think the monk three parter killed so much potential. those THREE episodes could have been used for something better... or they could have used the potential of the story better e.g. by hinting the simulation thing throughout previous episodes or not letting the monks be defeated so ridiculously easy. i mean, the resolution to three episodes of build up was bill thinking about her mom while touching a defenseless corpse like thing... other than this massive useless interruption halfway through the series i overall really enjoyed it. i love bill, probably my favorite companion, i love nadrole, i love missy, more than ever in this series and capaldi was truly at his best here. oh and moffat didn't get lost in way too big story arcs. i think the main arc was missys redemption and it was handled truly beautifully, not to mention the tragic ending of her never getting to stand with the doctor even though in the end she truly wanted to.
If bill does stay because lies. This is how I hope the regeneration reactions go. Doctor regerates and says. "bill 2 questions. One am I ginger." bill "um... No." doctor. " am I a woman" bill. In a whispery tone "yahhhh... You are." doctor "well" grabs her breasts "I'll need you to teach me how these work" episode ends
