I love being a cop, looking back, I loved my time in the academy. Now, 4 years in I still love it…but I will say this, I don’t know that I can recommend it anymore. I’m in the northeast where bail “reform” is a thing and people hate us. This summer has been worse than ever since laws were signed restricting us even more and letting criminals do what they want. We have an AG and Gov who hate us. Anyone reading this considering entering law enforcement, make sure you’re made of the right stuff. Make sure you know what you’re getting into.

Seems like it's becoming the norm everywhere esp mid west from what I see regularly on Code Blue Cam on here (youtube). Repeat offenders getting out with a slap on the wrist only to get out and do the same again. Very frustrating for LEO's. Being in Virginia, I can only hope it's less widespread in the south as I'm in the process of becoming a Cop myself.

Skipped over a huge part of PT in the academy, a person's overall health. You have to know yourself and what you can handle. For myself I have a spine injury with extenuating issues. Disabled without paperwork I pushed through several years of hitting the gym hard. I went from 116 lbs soaking wet to 170. I went from being barely able to lift my eyelids to being able to deadlift 300. Than everything came to screeching stop. I noticed weakness in my left side started walking with a limp. My right knee popped at the physical and I failed my mile and a half. 4 years later surgery. Didn't help I'm 5ft7, was 5ft8 at the time. Early thirties wasn't too much of a hindrance. Ultimately my new goal is possibly corrections before I'm 40 but ultimately I forsee myself in private security until retirement

Maybe defensive tactics is a subject you want to talk about. I started patrol in the early 70s. Defensive tactics were a nightstick, a blackjack, or a 5 D cell flashlight. Back then the only thing that was off limits was hitting someone on the head. Knees, collar bones, etc were all fair game. Obviously, things have changed hugely. It seems like no one uses an impact weapon anymore.

    • @EddieSlabb

That's a great topic in itself. My local police force carries pepper spray, tazer, baton and sidearm. They're pretty clear that they seek to avoid escalation of force where possible. More use of force also correlates to officer injuries.

Partly because it was so early in the morning. Plus, most of the academy we had to work out in masks. Yeah... I know. For me PT was not the hardest part of the academy. It was dealing with a room full of recruits (a very large group of them) with huge personalities. I will just leave it at that.

Hey, I am somewhat in shape but I need to BUILD body weight. I am a light guy, I'm not terrible but I still would like to grow. For reference, I am around 6'2 114-120lbs...it's terrible visually lol, I don't think I give the image of a police officer unless I am wearing my uniform and my body is mostly covered. I am hoping to gain fats, whether good or bad, I just want my weight to be at least 130-140ish in just mass, and then I will look into the whole muscle growth/healthy fat thing

Hey brother I’m In the current process of getting hired through my sheriffs department in Georgetown SC I was invited to a hiring event and I passed my written test had the highest score in my group at 123 outta 125 , I had my board interview next idk if I passed it yet but they had us do the PAT test ( physical agility test) next and required time was 2:06 I ran it in 1:53 and afterwards the SGT said she would be in contact with me regarding the next phase of the process so does that mean that there’s a good chance I passed my board interview? The supervisor who is helping me get hired said that it’s all looking good for me but I’m just waiting for the phone call to take the psych test which is the next phase of the process but until then I’m just left waiting to find out if I passed the board interview or not 🤷‍♂️

Is a row machine good cardio? I am wanting to get back in shape since I hurt my back, doctor says I'm good but to watch out

Rowing machines are great for cardio and work capacity. You know your body, if you feel like it's going to re-injure your back then stop for a bit and keep on the path to recovery until you're confident you can start without issues.

Hey officer401, I would like to see a video from you about how police view drugs. We all know that things like meth, heroin, crack, cocaine, alprazolam are top of the line for destroying families and communities. But what about other drugs that are punished the same as those but cause much less harm and have no addiction potential like mushrooms, lsd or the like. Do officers view these as different than the other, what drugs are the worst? What drugs are cops more likely to let slide? I haven't seen any drug video on your channel and have been watching for a few years I imagine for police they are something alot of you deal with daily. Thanks for taking the time to consider my suggestion!

Train your tibs and run slower and walk when it hurts overtime your muscles will adapt to the impact of running
