Thanks! Lot of good info here. I'm saving your vids to help get more skis in the boat.

This video is very helpful. Any advice on rods that can handle these big baits? Length? Composition?

The Chaos Tackle trolling rods will handle these just fine. We usually run a mix of 7' to 9' in length depending on the spread we run.

What depth will the mattlock achieve at 5 MPH

+Brett Carsella Typically the Mattlock on the front pin has a dive cube of roughly 1' down for 3' of line out. So if you let out 30' of line it's about 10' down. Seems like this is the case from 3 to 4 mph. You might get just a tad deeper at 5mph. Some people feel like the higher speed you might get even a little less do to the upward pull at higher speeds. This is an approximate guide.

+Team Rhino Outdoors dive curve not "dive cube". Oops.

So if your in a store and you have 2 of the same bait, would you buy the lighter or heavier 1. Since wood density is diffrent.

+upnortdave TV If you listen to Pete Rich on this subject he prefers the heavier ones. I personally haven't seen that make a difference.
