    Loved it.
    To me any way.
Out of all the locos theres nothing more provocative than a class 24, for sound.

A wonderful source of modelling inspiration, I see the station complex has come on a lot since the last video, great work.

Excellent - I'm a 'returner' and have a Class 37 on order from AS as my first large scale loco ( I began again with a tiny Ruston) - the SLW class 24 is sweet. Thank you for posting.

Just love your railway reminds me of the ECML in the early 70s around Oakleigh Park.

I think that’s the intention. You can almost smell the grime and oil. I’d love to see this in real life. I have some old locos. But I don’t think this is OO scale like mine are.

@@montystelevision3238 It is EM scale... so you are right - not 00.

The 24 sounds very convincing. I have not heard anything with similar levels of sound accuracy for steam locomotives. The ‘chuffs’ just don’t sound like steam

Wonderful film as ever. The atmosphere is spot on. Models weathered and looking as though they work for a living. It is a fantastic portrayal of the railways as they were hard working and unglamorous. Thank you.

Would the SLW DCC class 24 in research be capable of sound on DC? This is perfect for me

Providing it's the sound fitted version, it can run and sound on both DC & DCC control.

Very interesting . I didn’t think you would get such good sound on DC . How does the sound keep on while loco stationery ? Are you putting some power through track but not enough for the loco to move off ? Must admit would consider SLW 25 on this basis . I believe Bachman and Accurascale sound locos will also operate on DC but Hornby not . Love Hornsey Broadway

As you turn up the controller to around 4 volts, the engine starts and ticks over, but the model remains stationary. Increase the throttle and the loco sound will increase, allowing it to move off and the engine revs increase. Reduce the throttle and the loco will continue to run and slow down to a standstill, still ticking over. Reduce it too much and you will lose sound and movement, so there's a certain amount of controllability and feathering required.

@@kierhardy2789 But developing the driving technique sounds like fun . If the Accurascale Deltic is like that ( and the guys have confirmed it will operate on DC) then that would be even more tempting . Thanks for taking the time to answer .

OK, I'm confused. Are Hornsey Broadway and Shenston Road the same layout or not?

    • @kierhardy2789

The video shows Shenston Road locos at Shenston Road, as well as at Hornsey Broadway - two separate layouts.

Aaaah.......thanks. It's only confusing because they are both built to and incredibly high standard and look like they belong together.@@kierhardy2789

Impressive! But wanted to confirm this is 12 volt DC ?

    • @kierhardy2789
      @kierhardy2789  3 роки тому

Yes - although it's a DCC & digital sound model, it can be run from a 12v basic controller - in this video using a Gaugemaster handheld Model W

@@kierhardy2789 Wow ! I’m a big fan of Hornsey and SLW . I did not realise a loco sound could be kept ticking over whilst it is stationary on 12 volts DC . It’s made me reconsider a SLW class 25
