Do you ever compare your writing to other’s, especially your peers? I think I have a tendency to do this with my own writing. For instance, I’ll read an amazing short story or poem and feel like I’ll never be able to attain that level of skill. Also, just subscribed to your tiktok! Can’t wait for more episodes of writer or cider!!
omg yes!!!! all! the! time! but over the years i've found it a lot more helpful to reframe feelings of jealousy or inadequacy as inspiration or pride in my friends' accomplishments. there's definitely a term for this i can't remember right now, but basically retraining my brain to understand that just because someone else achieves something doesn't mean there's fewer opportunities for me, and vice versa. like it's just so much better to uplift each other! but i totally get what you mean....there are still moments where i find myself instinctively comparing my work with theirs (especially of a more distant peer), and then have to take a minute to talk myself out of that feeling.
Girl, I would have quit within the first few snips 😂 also, loved that you were cutting and chatting with us!
