I loved these vintage tire review videos so much, keep them up! I remember all these tires and I’m loving seeing how they stack up to modern offerings!
I was sponsored by Panther Tires in 2008. Those tires in the Team White(?) dot where dominant! At one time, I had boxes of different Panther tires. We were encouraged to experiment. We would take many different Truggy tires and try to create tires for our Super class rigs! Very cool! 😎
I just watched this vid again. It has been awhile but i would highly recommend it to all canyonaros to watch. This Tire / insert and "rig" combo gives a performance i would have to say is second to none. It drives and performs so smooth and effortlessly. If i were to judge visually. it could possibly outperform any rig in the canyon based on this rig tire insert combo.
Biggest weakness of the memory foam insert it temp. Under 50° they suffer from rigor mortis. I used to buy twin sized memory foam matress pads and make die cutters from sharpened steel pipe. That allowed me to experiment with dual stage, wider, skinnier, taller, and shroter. It was so much fun exploring that material and DIRT CHEAP to purchase.
that is amazing!! i kind of want to try out a newer tire with that foam and see what happens lol idk where to find that maybe just out of a mattress?😂😂 i sure love old tires ive been watching alot of rcsparks old videos and even some of the tires he ran just looked so much cooler than the ones made now. im sure most of them sucked for crawling haha
Hooray ! I found them NEW to send them in, i have near 10 sets used. My favorite compound, and tire EVEN OVER Voodoo og pins, etc... They did start remaking them for a bit, but trying to find out what is going on with PANTHER at all currently they have been MIA since OCT 2023. THEY make a SUPER SOFT compound but never seen them in the cougar. YES THESE were one of the first tires banned :) THEY get crazy sticky if you HEAT them up :) YES real compound, and real memory foam in 2007
panther makes good off-road race tires - if you can find them. If i could only pick one tire for all track conditions (blue groove to dusty or muddy) I'm picking panther boa! they might not be the best/fastest tire for the track but they usually won't fail you. i bet they would even be good at crawling...
Well, get over here and help me pour concrete and put up siding. Then I'll get done faster. I have to film a whole week's content in between mixing bags of concrete and shoveling gravel.
What did ProLine do that was crawler-specific in M3? Tires like the Masher 2K count, as those were MT tires. M3 was and still is (in ProLine's words) "indoor/outdoor soft." There were a lot of MT and "truggy" tires that got "re-branded" for the nascent crawler market, but I don't know if ProLine did many (or any) dedicated crawler tires in M3. Even the Hammer from 2009 was G8.
I've got some 2.2 proline Moab tires from 2006ish? They'll need baked off some plastic wheels though lol. Been planning on bringing them by at some point
I know it's a lot to ask but every now and then could you zoom in the show those certain moments to kind of help people understand what the tire is exactly doing when it deflects
I don't use an open cell /3d print hybrid, but I have taken to using a stiff open cell foam/hair donut hybrid. Works very well and my own ultra cheap version of the canyon double bun
This can only ask a question that you failed to mention but maybe also flys in your mind.. how about these foams in a different carcass? Presumably in a similar size.
these look a bit like the Proline hammers 2.2 - i should have a set somewhere - and when i find them - you know they will be on the way to the Kingdom of the Canyon - to do the stuff
OH god, like the backwards bike! There's the two options, and I don't know which would be worse: left is right and right is left + brake is forward and forward is brake, or the alternative, trigger is steering and wheel is throttle. They both sound nightmarish.
Well, he's rocking bonafide cheat codes now, so... pretty far up there. He was basically built as a proof of concept-- so no angle on the skid, no skid forward, an anvil of a gearbox, and none of the fancy stuff. Still does remarkably well.
I could say a lot of things on how I feel about those Cougars, I will just say WOW I wont even mention their position on the list (Im going to put these RearViews on the QuickView list) If I can find them, and they are close enough to the 2.2 Rupture size, I will buy these over the Ruptures
Cougars are shorter then the near 6" rupture, that was really the only thing that didnt make them Super popular, as we only have straight axles so taller tires ( rovers) were used more. Panther made a leopard it was tall 5.5 i think it was but i did not enjoy them as much. I stretched a cougar set to make a set of tall skinny cougars LOL.
So tires and foam peaked in 07 and we missed it 😢

That was some of the best crawling I've ever seen 💫.
"I chocked it before I dropped it" 😂 god I love this channel, I do believe Ratchet got new shoes! Please keep being you it is amazing, thanks
I have a set of Panthers . On my old 10.2 With a Scout body. One of my favorite trucks.

you find a box let me know, you have a buyer. I remember all the plowboys cut and shuts for supers LOL

When the cougar is wore it it gets even better.
I would love a set of these! Thank you Mr Canyon
Perhaps the Canyoneros can revive Panther. Let's pester them until they make Cougars again!
Just did that....
I have a set of these from way back, I ran them on my first ax10. The tires are still in really good shape.
Dat end shot is Art

Seeing these perform, seems like everything since... I can't even

I'd buy a set😃
blast from the past....everybody should send a message to Panther!
I’m digging the Rearviews. They’re not tires I’ll ever want, but they’re ones I’ll come across and know something about, which is cool!

The lack of a Wheelin Wednesday this week has me sad.

@@CrawlerCanyon I certainly would if I could. I’m in Iowa, it’ll take me a bit to get there. 🤣 Thanks for all you do.
I can’t always see the finer differences on tire quickviews but these looked amazing in every instance.
I remember racing 1/8 buggy back in early 2000's and I use those panthers, aka and proline. I had a hot bodys D8. Awesome buggy for the price.
Hey Buddy...just some 411, the first Pro-Line crawlers tires were in the M3 compound.

I have a set of Losi rock claws that are like a cross between those and ruptures...I really wish I could get new ones but they're discontinued.
Dat foam WOW
I don't use an open cell /3d print hybrid, but I have taken to using a stiff open cell foam/hair donut hybrid. Works very well and my own ultra cheap version of the canyon double bun
Why do they discontinue the best tires ?
This can only ask a question that you failed to mention but maybe also flys in your mind.. how about these foams in a different carcass? Presumably in a similar size.
Maybe? I can't think of a tire offhand that they would fit, though-- except maybe HB Rovers, which also happen to have very good foams.
I've also got some imex tires, but they're far too big of a size for any current crawlers. Even too big for my scx6 lol
What about putting a couple of mister nozzles on the fence?
these look a bit like the Proline hammers 2.2 - i should have a set somewhere - and when i find them - you know they will be on the way

❤ CC ! ive got a new dumb for you to try out ,nice and simple old skool ... Channels reversed !😂 Do the timed course

That was cool!! Why can't all single stage foams be that good good real deal memory foam?
Somebody get this man some JConcepts Scorpios
There is a scene from Only fools and horses that ya may find amusing, it includes a lean fail 😅😂😅😅
I suggest all canyoners to send an email to panther tires to request they do a rerun of this tire. I just did exactly that..
Where does ratchet sit on the list of most capable crawlers of the canyon?
Well, he's rocking bonafide cheat codes now, so... pretty far up there. He was basically built as a proof of concept-- so no angle on the skid, no skid forward, an anvil of a gearbox, and none of the fancy stuff. Still does remarkably well.

@@lastcreations8845 A cutNshut Cougar? That has to perform even better if there was the same memory foam for that size
I’m am getting a set of losi rock claws on trade. You want to review them??
they should have called them "thunder cougar falconbirds"...lol
Panther is still in business they make buggy and truggy 1/8 tires
Yeah they need to start making tires again you just come out of the dirt went over to Slick Rock and drove right up it
Where I can contact you crawler crayon ?? I would like you try some parts for me 🙌
You can send me an email to crawler canyon at gmail dot com.
@@CrawlerCanyon i get contact with you by instagram. I didn’t know you had a insta 🤣
I would buy these and trail run them lol
They remind of Ruptures........
Let's see panther vs rover vs Tusks
Amain part number PAHT485S . Currently on backorder.
and been on backorder for YEARS. So far as anyone knows, Panther is no longer producing these.
Nope. Too good. Just way too god mode cheat code they would ruin us all!!!
Would definitely love to see these in a 1.9x4.65 🤌
