    As I found out to my cost, the lens hood on a long telephoto lens can act like a wind sail in moderately windy shooting situations. By the time I had realised why my photos were all blurring, it was too late to remove it.

    Thanks, Rafael, I'm shooting the moon rising behind the California Tower this February. The video will really help me and the other attendees. Photo Pills is the best investment I've made in photography (other than my time and effort).

    excellent as always, An additional tip, if you don't have (or forgot) your intervalometer or your cable release, you can always use the timer on the camera, just set it to 2 or 5 seconds and press the shutter to capture an amazing photograph.
    I also play it extra safe, and use mirror lock up, to further reduce the chance of vibration on my dslr camera
    Thank you for sharing!

    Hi Rafael, it's a lot to digest in one go but at least we have you to go back and go through it again. I'm looking forward to planning a great moon shot at the end of my street. You explain it very well. It gives me confidence to use PhotoPills. - Tim

    Just wanted to thank you and all at PhotoPills for all the videos, guides and your constant enthusiasm and support. I really appreciate all that you do for the community.
    If there is a 'fault' , it's that things get a little long-winded for a 'hyper N Americans. But then, that's what scroll down is for, no?
    Your being comprehensive is what helps everyone improve their pix.
    So thank you so much!

    Hi Rafael, and thanks for all you wonderful explainations! A question: is there a way to use Photopills app in a larger display like with a PC? I find the use in small displays like smartphones and tablets really a big pain... Thanks so much!

    This is really cool, but I only have the Pixel 6. It's possible to do it with that ??

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  2 роки тому

      If the Pixel 6 includes a compass or magnetemeter then great... you'll be able to use the app a its full potential. And it seems it includes it: support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7158570?hl=en#zippy=%2Cpixel

    Great video, thank you. Love your product and I learn something new every day.
    One question about moon height though. Is the moon height displayed as measured from the bottom of the moon, or the center of the moon?
    Watching and older video of the Olympic Rings in London, I noticed in the hand-drawn sketches, the moon height may be measured from the center of the moon?
    If you covered the question already in one of your pdf guides I must have missed it. Sorry.

    when I go to planner, and slide to the distance tab like you did in the video, my distance is blank. I have no black pin in place and can't seen to figure out how to keep it there. Could you help with that? thank you!

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  2 роки тому

      Hi James! Tap the Button on the panel, the black pin will appear on the map.

    • @TJhooker07753
      @TJhooker07753 2 роки тому

      @@PhotoPills that seemed to do it. Thanks. 1 more question… is there a way to do a reverse plan - like where I choose the object & it tells me where to be for the moon to rise behind it? This would be rather than choosing where I want to be first. Thanks.

  • @Chalky555
    @Chalky555 2 роки тому +1

    Great video as always. I've nailed star trails and to some extent Milky Way ones as well. Moon plus city scape in one shot confuses me (old brain). Surely if you're one kilometre away from your lighthouse everything will look small. I can't get around the fact that the further you are away from a subject the smaller it gets You say focal length doesn't matter. Unless you mean position yourself 1km away then use a powerful zoom or telephoto focal distance?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ian! The size of the Moon vs your subject only depends on how far away you are from your subject. The size of the Moon vs the frame depends on your focal length. You need to go long if you don't want to crop your image.
