SuperTruck II reflects Freightliner's relentless pursuit of freight efficiencies to focus on core components that are already critical to real-world savings today and will become more important tomorrow: powertrain, rolling resistance, aerodynamics, and safety. As part of the SuperTruck program co-founded by the Department of Energy (DOE) with the aim to reduce emissions from on-road freight transportation, DTNA engineers were able to investigate next-generation technologies for heavy-duty commercial trucks and to clear the technical pathway for their development and potential integration into series production.
