      absolutely, that strawberry milkshake he drained out of it the last time was probably coolant getting in the tranny from the radiator. Maybe the change in radiators was the fix for both issues and probably why the radiator was leaking.

    In my Holden Commodore the thread for the brake caliper mounting bolt is in the steering knuckle itself so when it half stripped out I ordered an M12×1.5mm Helicoil thread repair kit, drilled & tapped the old thread out then I fitted the helicoil then I fitted a used OEM Bolt which I bought from an Auto wrecker.for $2 AUD !

    Damn! I saw this video late and missed out on the discount code for the smart watch. I really like these watches, they look really nice. I wish I would of gotten into fixing cars long ago when I was younger. I just started doing my own small jobs at home a few years ago like breaks, oil, tune-ups, but you do some bigger jobs that I would not even try to do myself. I wish I had the time to maybe learn along side someone but with a fulltime job and a family there is not much free time....

    what type of transmission fluid do you normally use on these hondas?

    • @craigjorgensen4637
      @craigjorgensen4637 6 місяців тому +3

      Honda transmission fluid SHOULD be used!

    • @HarleySLA
      @HarleySLA 4 місяці тому

      Should be using DW-1. Which is the factory fluid. You could use Dex in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's an emergency. Id also have it flushed afterwards or if it's leaking then keep a couple bottles of DW-1 with you. Hope that helps 👍
      Side note for anyone with a CVT, those do not take DW-1, they have their own specialized CVT fluid.

    Time to bite the bullet, and pick up a used, cheap minivan (probably a Mopar) for the Wife. Put a BYU sticker on back. Old Hondas have weak transmissions.

    • @charlesphilhower1452
      @charlesphilhower1452 6 місяців тому

      Mopar and minivans, you are asking for problems. Lee Iocca may have used them and the K cars out of bankruptcy and be the only car company to date to pay back the government nail out, but that does not translate in to making good vehicles. This is why they tend to be one of the lowest priced vehicles on the used car lot.

Problem is he is falling into the trap of thinking it's worth it to continually fix an old, high mileage Honda, and that it will not be an endless money / time pit. ZERO LEAKS OR SIGNS OF THEM.
    NO ENGINE CODES.
